Pak Nik Kembali Lagi?

It's confirmed! (Horror!) Pak Nik is going to work at Provinsi Banten, Republik Indonesia for 2 loooooong weeks! There goes my gym ... and I would likely have very limited access to the net! And I shall surely miss my comfy bed at home.... I simply can't believe I'm going back to that hellhole again for such an outrageously long period..... Gimme Singapore anytime! Or Bangkok!

"You still use this type of handphone ah?"

Once upon a time, there was this "entry-level" phone that I bought. The Nokia 3310, as they call it, was one of the most popular and well-known handphones locally. Why? Well, it was relatively cheap at that time (around RM400 - RM500), easy to use for tech dummies like me, and most of all, it is very hardy and resistant. I have dropped it countless times, and yet, when you re-assemble all parts back, it still works!

I used it for over 5 long years. At one point, the girl from a curry mee stall expressed her surprise that I still used this handphone. All my colleagues laughed at it as it was getting rather dirty and old. One day, they bought me a new phone as a farewell gift. It was a timely gift, and I was happy I didn't have to spend any money to replace my Nokia.

I struggled quite a bit to get used to the buttons and new functions. It took me extra long to send an sms. I used to be able drive and sms at the same time with my left hand using my Nokia, but now this task seems very difficult. But the life of this phone was shortlived. After only 7 months in use, I accidentally dropped it and the display faltered. So I had to go about shopping for a new one and this is what I got!

I fell in love with it! I think it is a very attractive phone! Summore easy to use. So now, I have truly upgraded myself! Wah! I can now listen to the radio, play MP3 music, snap pictures etc etc, don't play play ah....

Madonna on National TV?

Wah! First time I see a Madonna performance on national tv wor! Well, I was kinda skeptical that they would show her on tv. I mean, in so many years, you could rarely see Madonna video clips on tv (apparently the censorship board thinks that by just watching her on tv can turn all of us Malaysians immoral). To see her live performances are almost impossible! I was so upset when her 2001 opening act for the Grammys was not shown at all. Similarly, the 2006 Grammys opening.

Last year, or was it the year before, they didn't even show the Live Aid concert, so again nochance to see her. So this morning, when I saw the London delayed telecast scheduled for tonite, I was quite certain that they would leave her performance out once again. After all, I read in the internet that she shouted the Motherf***er word, and did some sexy moves with the music player on stage. Sure kena ban one!

But surprisingly, they show her wor! Yeah! Madonna is back on Malaysian TV airwaves!

The Hey You performance was ok la, though I don't see the relevance of the lyrics and the accompanying photo montage in the background to global warming. What does Nelson Mandela, and that Aung San Suu Kyi woman got to do with climate change? The Ray of Light set was similar to the Confessions Tour but a few of the dancers have been changed. Next up was the La Isla Bonita remixed version with a couple of russian gypsies, apparently. Magical, captivating and a new breath of life for that 20 year old song!

Then the show ended with Hung Up. By that time, you can tell she's gasping for air. Great performance by Madonna. I saw clips of some of the other performers, I really truly think Madonna's the most creative and awesome, the highlight of the entire show.

Of Peasant Stock and Eye Candy Men

It is my view that the local Malaysian Chinese people are predominantly made up of the less attractive breed. We're all not very beautiful. Peasant stock, a friend once said. But if you could just make your way down across the causeway (and now the Second Link), you'd notice that generally our fellow brothers and sisters have higher quality physical attributes.

Yes, Singaporean guys are hot! Everywhere you go, there will sure be eyecandy. In particular, the sales guys at the New Urban Male outlet at the Heeren were extremely mouthwatering. As Fable Frog was busy trying out party tanks (see pic) to buy for his friend, I was visibly distracted by the hot sales guys.

I think that these hot guys were handpicked by the owner of the store. They were all very attractive indeed. The sales guy that attended to Fable in particular had short hair, tanned smooth skin, wears spectacles but yet had a very attractive boyish face, fairly toned body.... very yummicious! If only I could eat him up! He was very friendly, spoke oh-so-gently and did his job professionally.... I felt like a schoolgirl. I could just melt there....

Singapore Indoor Stadium

The time has finally arrived to watch one of the most popular female artiste perform LIVE! LIVE before my eyes and ears! At about 7 pm, Fable Frog and I left our hotel in Geylang to the concert venue, just a good 15 minutes walk. Apparently there was also a celebration of sorts that same evening as well at the adjacent National Stadium, so the area in the vicinity was pretty busy. We soon met up with PC and made our way in the very long queue. We found our seats right at the highest balcony at the very side of the main stage. Yes, they were the cheapest tickets S$100 (~ RM230), and we had initially feared that we would get a terrible view. But it appears that the indoor stadium was small and our seats turned out fairly close to the stage! Not a bad deal!

We wondered who might be the opening act for the night, if there was any at all, and how long we would be made to wait. Fable informed us that the Pussycat Dolls opened for her in the past. What? An act like PCD still opens for other people? It's relative, I suppose.... who is bigger than whom! We didn't have to wait long when the lights dimmed..... and out came the Christina posing on a moveable stage, pushed by the dancers.

For the first half of the concert, Christina sang numbers from her Back to Basics album. Well, I don't really know the song titles, but nonetheless, I was blown away by the power of her voice. It didn't matter if I knew the songs or not. Just watching her perform and listening to her voice.... awesome! I was mesmerized! The crowd's favourite songs were no doubt Ain't No Other Man and Candyman. She later sang interesting remixed versions of Come On Over and What A Girl Wants. They sounded so different from the original versions and I was really blur la. PC and Fable had to tell me what songs they were!!

For much of the second half of the concert, she sang older more familiar tunes. The audience was getting even more fired up, and so was I. I stood up screaming and waving quite a few times (so phai say!). I swear if we were right at the front of the stage, I would have gone berserk! We were surprised that she sang Lady Marmalade and the crowd got all worked up. For encore, she sang Fighter. After about 90 minutes of performance, the show ended. It felt short as I was having such a good time! I kinda felt sad that it had to end so soon, and I couldn't get enough it her! I want more!!

It was worth every sen... this trip! This show! Now, time to plan for the next act to come close to our shores!
