To Treat or To Celebrate?

A reflexologist recently "diagnosed" that there could be something wrong with my sister's breast... a lump maybe. According to my sister, sometimes she could "feel" as if there's something not right with her breast too.

But she refused to get it checked up by a doctor. She had seen so many of her friends her age who had suffered immensely and eventually died from one cancer or another ... breast, colon, cervical etc etc...

"What for go check up? Eventually there is no escape and you eventually die anyway. And all the useless and painful treatment that you have to go through. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of ringgit you have to spend. All for what? To buy extra few months to live?"

There was no way to argue or convince my sister. She always win in any argument. She's got a point though. The painful and super expensive treatment is just going to eat into your family savings and extend the time a little bit, but the pain and suffering will always be there. Buy more time to suffer and let the hospital get richer?

"If..... if let's say I have cancer, I'd rather claim all the money from my insurance and quickly use the money to travel the world," she added.

What would YOU do if you are put in a similar situation?

Facebook-ing Family

Strangely enough, I have managed to remain off-radar from members of my family in Facebook for over a year. But the time has come, today: I received a "friend" request from my 19-yo niece.

Not that there were too many revealing information in my facebook profile, but there are things that I'd like to keep private from family. And with all those privacy breaches that I have mentioned in my preceding post, you cannot be 100% certain that you have control over what items or photos can be seen. Plus you can't control what people write on your wall!

Photos tell a lot. About the kind of activities you do, the friends you hang out with, about how you behave (I admit I still very much behave immaturely), how daggy your clothes are, and eventually confirming your sexuality.

One can very easily deduce your sexuality by just looking at your "friends" list, your friends' photos, and your own photos! Not that they didn't already guessed it in the first place, but it's another thing to be letting family members confirming their suspicions, and seeing so much of your life. Suddenly I feel naked!

And if one family member adds you, you can be assured the others will follow!

Hmmm... major headache! To accept or not?! Argh!

Yellow Shirt Guy Part 2

So it's been 4 months since I first blogged about the yellow shirt guy. Yeah, I have not stopped obsessing over him in Facebook. I would visit his profile regularly to check out his status and oogle at his yummicious pics.

You see, I discovered that his profile was not public. Non-friends could not gain access to view his profile. In spite of the so-called privacy settings, there was a blunder in the privacy feature which allowed ME ... and ONLY ME, as a "non-friend" to view his profile in its entirety, including ALL his yummilicious pictures. Yes, I didn't have to add him as a friend to be able to view his profile. The only thing is that I could not leave a comment.

So when Facebook announced last week that new privacy measures would be implemented, I was worried that things would change and that my "free" access to the yellow shirt guy's profile could be affected. And I was right! Damn it! I was fuming mad, and cried that my regular addiction has been taken away from me.

But I did take some desperate measures to ensure that I am able to continue to enjoy the view of that beautiful piece of meat and that gorgeous smile on his face. Just a day (yes, a day... thank god!) before the new settings (and restrictions) came into effect, I managed to download quite a number of his fabulous pics. Slurrp!

Hmmm ... Perhaps I should just request to add him as a friend? Kan I am now older and bolder?

Dirty Old Man

As I turn 35 soon, it is almost like stepping into another (older) phase of life. I run out of breath more easily during my step class, the perpetual ache near my left shoulder blade, my feet hurts, I get more moles on my skin, stiff neck etc etc .... the list goes on. My body's falling apart!

But one thing I noticed is that I'm also getting more "active" and bold when it comes to "tackling" gorgeous guys.

I brushed my hands against the gorgeous butt of a cute waiter that I was talking to. I held on a handshake and rubbed my thumb on the back of the hand of an edible Type A1 contractor for a moment too long.

I used to be super passive and shy, a good thing perhaps, but probably now what you'd call a dirty old man.

Ultimate Madonna

Due to be released Sept 28 worldwide is Madonna's latest greatest hits compilation, a celebration of over 26 years of Madonna's music. Not sure if we can get it here in Malaysia on that exact date, but I will surely be visiting the stores on that day!

Recently, the track listings for the CD and DVD compilations were officially announced. See side bar for information.

Celebration CD - The 'Ultimate' Collection

The double CD package will feature 36 songs, including 2 new songs, from her 27-years career. It is interesting to note that song selections were heavily skewed towards the earlier part of her career. Of the 34 old songs, 20 were selected from the first 8 years (1983 - 1990) of her career. Songs post-1991, which covers 18 years, were severely under-represented. Only 6 songs from the 1991-2000 period, while 8 songs from the 2001-2008 period made it to the collection. It is not particularly surprising as most fans (and even non-fans) identify with her earlier songs more when she was at her peak back then in the 80s.
career.

Apart from the two new songs, the remaining 34 songs have either previously been released in her studio albums or soundtracks or greatest hits compilations. It seems that all the old songs featured in the compilations were in versions that have been previously released before. It's a shame as they could have included some remixed versions, but I guess they wanted to preserve the original "flavour" or "essence" of her songs. So for those loyal fans like me who owned all of her previous albums, there's nothing really much to look forward to.

In my opinion, all songs are big Madonna hits worthy in the 'ultimate' compilation, with the exception of Miles Away which I think do not deserve to be there given that there were many better and more deserving "trademark" hits that were absent (Deeper and Deeper, This Used to Be My Playground, I'll Remember).

Celebration - Video Collection DVD

Whatever that the CD lacks, the DVD pretty much makes up for it. This video collection DVD appears to be a lot more comprehensive with 47 of Madonna's music videos, which includes 27 previously unreleased videos!! It appears that the videos will be arranged in chronological order.
I am certainly looking forward to the saucy, sinful and previously unreleased and previously banned (from being aired on MTV) videos like Justify My Love, Erotica and What It Feels Like For A Girl. I just hope they don't get banned in Malaysia, though... fingers crossed!!!

I'm also glad they've included the videos for True Blue, Live To Tell, Who's That Girl, Deeper and Deeper, I'll Remember, I Want You and You'll See. Now I don't have to go to You Tube to watch them!

*******

Notably absent from both the CD and DVD compilations were American Life and This Used To Be My Playground. For American Life, I think the original uncensored/unedited version of the video was one of her best work. Tried YouTubing American Life, and couldn't find the orginal video. And I certainly do not understand the rationale for excluding This Used To Be My Playground which was a #1 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, and Top 10 in charts across the world.

Both the CD and DVD packages are indeed quite THE COMPREHENSIVE and ULTIMATE collection of Madonna's best. All the videos in the DVD will certainly showcase the artistic genius and evolution of pop's cultural icon. No one does it better than Madonna.

Sinners in the Gym

I was not surprised to see this notice posted in the men's locker room of a gym in Manila. But I was surprised that it has come to a point that they really needed to remind people to behave! LOL!

"Sexual advances towards any member or staff are strictly prohibited."

A Pinoy Meet-Up

There was a sudden surge in Filipino-related activities the past week. Aside from my Manila trip, I was also pleasantly surprised with an email from a reader of this blog, RMC who hailed from Alabang (south of Metro Manila), just before I flew to Manila. He was in KL for a working visit. Apparently, he chanced upon my blog while trying to find out about PLU community and information in KL. He couldn't remember exactly how he landed upon my blog... I mean it's not that my blog is a popular site to read about KL gay information, but I bet that he probably clicked on my link from Tricia's PLU guide blog. LOL!

Anyway, I am glad that RMC wrote, and after a couple of email exchanges, we decided to meet in Midvalley (where else!) last Sunday. Thanks to RMC for a great leisurely afternoon and conversation. Hope you have a safe trip back, and see you again soon.

Pinoy Boys Withdrawal Symptoms

As Tricia aptly puts it, I'm currently showing Pinoy Boys Withdrawal Symptoms. I wasn't sure it was Monday blues or was it that headache, but I decided to call in sick. One thing for sure, I'm missing all the good looking pinoy boys. Yes, it's been a little over a year since our holiday to Manila (read about it here and here), but my recent trip to Manila certainly brought back all the good memories.

Like I have said before, pinoy boys are the the best looking boys... well at least for me lah. If you can imagine, every corner of the street you'd find at least a few good looking edible boys. Very high edibility factor indeed. One morning in the Manila gym, I noted that of the 12 male floor staff that I could see from where I stood, 11 are edibly gorgeous or cute or hunky or pleasant looking. Even the instructors were hunky. Now where can you get such high percentage of edible gym staff/instructors in our local gym?

I could go on and on ... here are a few pictures of attractive pinoy models. You can find equivalent edible boys even in the streets.

SSSLLUURRRPP!
*******
I contacted Neil, one of the boys we met (and whom Sindy couldn't stop kissing ~ LOL!) during our last trip. He wasn't from Manila, but fortunately, he was around at that time. We met up in the Greenbelt Makati for dinner, and proceeded to the clubbing area in Malate. It was the eve of a public holiday (Remembrance of the Death of Ninoy Aquino), so it was fairly crowded that night. But we didn't go in to any of the gay clubs as Neil could not stand the smoke, but we did explore the surrounding clubs/pubs. We ended up in a not-so-smokey pub with a live band. There were many Westerners and Koreans in pub. (It appears that many Koreans have made the Philippines their home - don't know why)
O Bar, Malate

A show at Bed, Malate
On our walk back, we were offered massage services from a group of very edible boys. Must be hustlers, but Neil cautioned that these money boys often take advantage of people.
*******
The next day, I made my mandatory visit to a Bench/ shop. I must have spent over an hour there... choosing the shirts, trying them on, choosing again... oh my... I like! And they all come in small Filipino sizes (people there tend to wear fitting clothes). I love them all! Almost felt like a crazy guy there.... In the end, I bought 7 shirts/t-shirts, two underwears, a shoe bag and a be bench/model search 2007 DVD (oh the models... yum!).... all for an affordable RM330.

Urghs~ actually.... I ran out of time as I had a flight to catch. I had wanted to buy even more, and I didn't even have a chance to go to Folded and Hung shop. Damn!
p/s: I am still googling for images of pinoy boys/models/actors on the internet, and am watching the model search DVD again and again.... OMG! I can't stop!

The Guy With Yellow T-Shirt

OMG!!!! I can't stop stalking this guy in facebook! LOLs!

It all started on a Friday evening, two weeks ago. Late dinner at a Bangsar mamak, and there he was... in his yellow t-shirt that really showed off his hunky-licious chest.... his cute boyish face.... standing there on the pedestrian pavement, looking in to find a table for him and his friend. Naturally, I couldn't stop staring at that piece of delicious meat ... I was salivating all over, almost wanted to gobble him up right there and then!

Then, a few days ago, while browsing through a friend's friend's friend's list, I came across that familiar face again... that face I wanted to rape with my lips and tongue so badly... LOLs~

I clicked on the thumbnail, and THANK GOD, Jesus and Mary, Lord Shiva, Kuan Yin etc etc ... his profile is open to the public... unrestricted! And ever since then, I can't stop clicking on his photos, analysing his profile, and even remembering his date of birth! OMG! I don't even remember some of my sisters birthday! (shame on me!)

I've been checking his profile every day, sometimes several times a day!!!! .... just to get a dose of his good looks and bods .... *yum*yum* somehow it's therapeutic.... a great way to destress indeed. I wonder if Facebook as a function or a tool whereby it allows the profile owner to check who has been checking their profile.... then I'm dead!

Hmm... perhaps I should start downloading his pics~~

Gorgeous

As I swiped my card to enter the gym, there he was.... standing there, smiling at me. He's got the most beautiful eyes and eye brows, the sexiest lips ... He must have one of the most "handsome-st" face in the world. And he looked smart in his collared t-shirt and vest .... his strong arms with a folder in his hand.

I could not get my eyes off him, as he continued to smile at me. I smiled back, feeling a little shy... blushing as I moved a few slow steps forward.... a little lost. I should be rushing as the next class was gonna start soon, but yet, I could not peel myself away from his good looks. He had the Filipino good looks, but I can't be sure.

I wanna go over and hug him and kiss him.... on his cheeks, his lips ... I want to smell him in his manly cologne. I want him to tease me, and to hold me in his strong arms, and sweep me off my feet and take me away to land far far away and make love to me. I want him so badly. I wanna be with him forever and ever.

I knew it was all a little far-fetched. I could never be with him. Hence, I took out my phone and tried to take a picture of him. I had to look around to make sure no one was watching. My hands were trembling. I was feeling flushed all over from the intense infatuation. Damn! Blur! The picture was blurry! Urghs~ This stupid phone!

I moved a little closer to him, but I have to be discreet. People will think I'm crazy, but I just got to do this. He's just too gorgeous to pass this photo opportunity ~

Celebration

I feel I am obliged to help promote Madonna's new single "Celebration". LOL! It's from her greatest hits album (her last from Warner Music after more than 25 years) soon to be released.

Click on this link to go to Madonna's official website which has complete preview of the song for a limited time. Click on the play button at the bottom of the page (just above "Enter Madonna.com"), not the one in the big box.

Gambler

I was pleasantly surprised to hear one of my favourite Madonna songs, Gambler, being played in the gym yesterday.

Gambler is a 1985 Madonna song from the movie Vision Quest. The other song from the movie was Crazy For You. Interesting info about the song:
- Released as a single in other parts of the world but not in the US;
- Peaked at #4 in the UK.
- Songwriting credited entirely to Madonna (almost all of her other songs are co-written with others)
- The only single not available in any of her albums.

To me, I like the song as it seemed to have that uptempo "country and western - horse-riding feel". It was nice to be able to workout with one of my favourite songs! Got more energy to lift weights! LOL!

Not a Hunter

Logged on to Axcest and Fridae for a short while just to check if there's any new hearts or messages. But of course there's nothing. What do I expect? My profiles have aged, it's been there like for almost a decade, and I haven't updated my information much. No new photos, no new sales pitch. And I only log on probably like once every two months or so. And even so, briefly... like for a few minutes. The older your profile gets, or the lesser you update or log on, the profile gets stashed underneath thousands of other more new and interesting profiles of the fabulous people in the community.

Thought of updating information about myself, perhaps upload new face pics, but I could think of nothing to type even for the "Introduction" line... yup... no sales pitch! I remembered I used to be quite active many years back... diligently sending hearts hoping to get one in return (and possibly a message which says "Thanks for the heart, I like you, let's meet up") and occasionally muster the courage to write a short message to that attractive candidate. But nothing materialized.

I'm not really bothered to spend hours poring through hundreds of profiles each night hoping to find a mate. I'm not the typical male animal... I'm not a hunter. I'm more of the passive type, prefering to drop hints here and there, and wait for a response. Usually, there is no response lah, cos I'm not a hottie. LOL! Hence, web profiling doesn't really work for me. Perhaps I should just delete them.

Over-rated!

The past one week, "over-rated" was quite the buzzword. It all started when we arrived at the LCCT to check-in for our flight to Jogjakarta.

Tricia: Should we eat on board or eat here now?
Evie: Oh ya, the nasi lemak is apparently quite yummy...
Tricia: Ah... yes yes... I heard they say it is nice... not bad.
Me: (eyes roll upwards) Nice meh? It's over-rated la.

Here's my short list of over-rated places/things/people mentioned during our trip:
- Nasi Lemak on AK flights (not nice la!)
- Borobudur (I think the Prambanan Temple has more character and beauty)
- Ratu Boko palace (kinda boring without our camwhore)
- Kraton (this is extremely over-rated! Waste of time! LOL!)
- Bakso (haiya... these are just meatballs!)
- Jalan Malioboro (vendors selling essentially the same stuff)
- Those colourful JCo/BA/DD donuts (so expensive!)
- Michael Jackson (yeah, he was super in the early 80s with his music, dance and videos, but after his Bad album, I think he was just merely over-rated based on his past glory)

I can't remember what else was mentioned by one of us to be over-rated.

Do share what you think is over-rated...

Get Serious!

I was surprised that I received a telephone call from a research consulting firm this evening. The interviewer claimed that the research firm is currently representing a client who wants to conduct a survey of Malaysian citizens on their perception of quality of life in Malaysia. And the interviewer had randomly chosen my name ~ apparently the interviewer picked my name from the telephone directory listing which I didn't know existed ... This is the second time my name was randomly picked for a telephone interview since 3 years ago on the quality of gym services ~ ish! If only I was so lucky to have been picked to win RM3 million jackpot lottery!

The interviewer, a girl, quickly launched her interview and bombarded me with questions .... but I had to stop her to verify that she was genuine and not some form of scam. She seemed to be in a hurry to want to finished her questions ... probably over exhausted from calling hundreds of people up! So I interviewed her back first, asking her details of her firm, the purpose of the survey and her client. She didn't know who her client was and I am sure it must be some form of confidentiality involved... but I didn't push it further, as her interview questions seem to be serious in nature.

So there were questions on how I would rate selected serious issues in Malaysia, and what I think if the government of the new PM would be able to make significant improvements on these issues in the next couple of years. Issues such as corruption, taxes, public transport, environment, health services, education system, race-based politics, etc etc.... I only have to give simple "yes" and "no" answers, and give ratings on importance of each issue. I can't help but suspect that her anonymous client was a political entity, rather than an NGO or a commercial enterprise.

Crisis Management

How well are you able to handle a crisis? Have you ever dealt with any major crisis before?

Did you tell anyone you came for this screening? Do you have anyone that you can rely on for support if indeed the results indicate that you are positive?

These were the questions that made me pause to think …. to search for answers …. answers that I don’t have ….

Boy, these are tough tough questions.

Frankly, life has thus far been fairly kind to me. So I wouldn’t know how I would react, or how to deal with it if it came to be known that I am HIV+. It is impossible to know how we would really react until we are put into that position. What would I do if ….?

I hadn’t planned to tell anyone about my plans to go for HIV screening. But I had casually told Sindy when she pinged me at MSN that afternoon.

But who could I rely on for support in such matters?

How can you tell if that person is ready or able to give you the support that you really need?

You are essentially offloading a small portion of the crisis to them. Under normal circumstances, some people can be your best of friends, but they may not want to be burdened by the knowledge that you are HIV+. With knowledge, comes responsibility. While the counsellor was waiting for my response, I ran through, in my mind, the names of people that I thought perhaps could lend some support... but I wasn't certain.

*************

I didn’t think through all these important questions thoroughly before I went for the test. Perhaps I thought I will be strong enough to deal it alone. But am I really?

I guess I have to have the answers ready for my next round of testing. But how do I get the answers?

Dangerous Behaviour

"The act that you were about to engage in was very high risk, but ................... . However, your behaviour can be considered as high risk...." the counsellor lectured me in great lengths on safer sex.

Somehow, I felt guilty... I totally deserved this lecture ... in fact he should just scold me and punish me. I needed to record his words down to serve as a reminder how stupid one can get in the heat of the moment. As a somewhat risk-averse person in all other aspects in life, how did I manage to morph into becoming a high-risk taker? Totally irrational behaviour.

Yes, as I sat down in front of the cute counsellor in the pre-test and post-test counselling sessions, I began to wonder how do we prepare ourselves for "in the heat of the moment" circumstance? How do we remain sober and rational?

For instance, oral sex carries low risk of HIV transmission. Take a look at the insides of our mouths... those delicate thin red lining of our cheeks, throat and tongue. You could also see the red capillaries running all over.

Yet, almost all who engage oral sex do it without a condom. Low risk does not mean no risk. Isn't that a dangerous act and behaviour? Is it rational for us to perform oral sex without a condom?

Bare Back Attack

It started out with an excellent massage of my neck, shoulders and back. I can feel the powerful rubbing and pulling of muscles, tendons and nerves. I really needed to get rid of that stiffness in my neck that has bugged me for almost a month. The massage was such a relief and painful and sore at times. Towards the end of session, the fat uncle masseur said I had very tight and stiff muscles, and that he was gonna do something (couldn't get what he meant).

Then he pulled a trolley next to the bed. I heard clanking of empty glasses, heard him blew into them, and suddenly he attacked my bare back! He stuck those hot glasses on my back, one by one, and they were bloody painful!

"Wah, sangat hitam la... banyak angin lo", YT laughed when she came over to look at my back while I was still lying face down with 20 glass spheres attached to my back. YT had just done hers.

After the fat uncle removed the cups, he gave some instructions to his colleague, and soon I was attacked again, this time by needles ... on my neck, lower back, one on my right arm... not sure if there's any on my legs. I remained motionless for the next 15 minutes... too scared to move.

And here's the result:

I think those marks looked pretty cool, if only they were a bit more symmetrical. It's been a day now, and they still felt rather sore. But I have slept very well indeed. Now I have a problem, I have to cancel my sun tanning plans after these marks disappear... damn!

p/s: I've also gotten my personal training from YJ earlier that morning. :)

Status Quo

“So are you taken?” a friend asked me last week.

I’ve never really thought about it. Bert and I have never really discussed about it either.

I don’t know.

Pause.

Unofficially, I’d like to think that I’m taken. We adore each other and we’re really comfortable with each other. Though, officially, we’ve never labeled ourselves as boyfriends.

I elaborated but I realized my reply was somewhat inconclusive.

It’s been 9 weeks since I met Bert. And in the last 6 weeks after I left Singapore, I’ve only spent 4 full days with Bert, although we spoke over the phone quite regularly.

Right now, it’s 10pm Saturday night, and I’m home alone blogging. I have no plans on a Saturday night! It’s pathetic …. not because I’m all alone (I prefer the quiet sometimes), but in spite of being so-called “attached” (unofficially, that is), I’m still by myself most of the time. Nothing has changed. I’m still eating alone. I’m still watching TV alone. Driving alone. Sleeping alone. Sometimes talking to myself. I’m still attending gatherings and functions alone.

Is this what long distance relationship all about?

How Will I Know?

How do you know if someone is flirting with you? How will you know if someone is interested in you? For me, it is difficult to tell la, because people rarely take any notice or interest in me.

Recently, I spotted this hot guy, in the gym who turns out to be SL’s friend. I have fancied this

Is he just being friendly? Is he flirting with me? How will I know?

How will I know if he's thinking of me
I'm asking you what you know about these things

You Asked For It

I was very THE free these days, so after lunch date with Ban, I drove cross valley back to KL for massage.... yeah, I needed that head, neck, shoulder and back massage. Been getting stiff neck for weeks, and I hope this will help cure it!

So as I came back down to the locker room after the massage, one of the employees were explaining to two customers that the establishment is not liable for any loss of personal belongings. Apparently, one of the customers had lost some money, and claimed that his masseur has taken his locker key and came down to steal his money. Of course, he had no proof. He was visually unhappy and I feel so sorry for him. I hurriedly unlock my locker to check if my wallet, keys and phone are still there. Thank god!

So I start to busy body la.... and I asked him how much was missing.

"One thousand over ringgit...."

"What? Why are you carrying so much cash around town in the first place?" I laughed and blurted out in a tone that seem to suggest you stooopid.....

I suddenly realized it was such an inappropriate thing to say and quickly corrected myself and added in my best sympathetic tone... Oh dear, so terrible.... which sounded so fake....

I'm so sorry... life's a bitch but you asked for it!

The Agogo Boy

As the clock struck 1, the karaoke music was turned down and the lights shone at the little stage at the front. Everyone turned attentively to stage as two mak nyah (transvestites/transsexuals - not sure if operated liao or not lah) came out and started dancing and miming to the up-tempo and kancheong "Lose My Breath" by Destiny's Child. I thought it was a rather good performance, compared to the few I've seen in the past.

Then the performance that everyone was waiting for.... the hot (apparently) Filipino boy came out and started gyrating to a midtempo song (can't remember what it was), and start losing piece of clothes he was wearing right down to his maroon sequins hot pants. He was slightly smaller than average kind of guy, but generally quite toned, with a bit of chest hairs. He has that dashing Filipino look.

Then, it was back to a solo performance by one of the mak nyah. Miming again, as usual, to a diva song. I just don't understand why don't they just try singing instead of miming? LOL! Nevertheless very funny.

Then, it's back to the Filipino agogo boy, Hans, again. This time, he was topless and was clad in only a triangular piece of cloth wrapped around his waist. He moved sensually on stage to the tune of the music, gyrating his hips in the most sexual manner. Then he dropped the cloth and reveal a very sexy black thong. In a few moments, he skillfully pulled down his thong but with one hand cupped at his pubic area, and continued dancing and gyrating. I can see his pubes were neatly trimmed. The song ended and he went backstage. It was the next mak nyah's turn to perform.

Hans came out again, this time only in a sports pouch (with no backing material). After a few moments, he cupped his privates with one hand, and using his other hand, he pulled his whole underwear up his body and removed it over his head. He gyrated to the song and skillfully did a few acrobatic moves, all the time cupping his pubic area with one hand. But I caught glimpses of his yummicious balls at certain angles. At times, I thought I could see his semi-erect penis pushing out between his fingers. He came close to the audience at the front a couple of times and danced next to them. Then, it was the two mak nyah's turn to mime again.

In his last performance, Hans came out entirely naked, but all the time with one hand covering his precious sausage and balls. Again, at times, his privates were partially exposed as he moved sensually to the music. I swore his cock was almost erect, pushing out between his fingers and he was trying hard to cover it. My friend pointed out "See his hard cock?". He made his rounds to the audience and danced next to them, allowing them to touch his body briefly. He came up to our table, and my friend pushed him to me, and so I gyrated with him also lah, and lightly caressed him a bit (*shy*). He went back to the stage before the show ended.

What an experience! It was all rather surreal. Damn, after all that I was hard and needed to JO! LOL! But yes, it was just a weekend night out with a few old friends just in the outskirts of this city....

The One With Profile Picture Meme

OK, so I was tagged by Janvier to do a meme:

1. Post your profile pic.
2. Tell us a story behind it.
3. Why do you choose that pic?
4. Tag 5 more bloggers!
This meme .... very easy one .... should take less than 5 minutes to do ....

See see? Got two different versions ... initially it was the top one in 2007, then changed liao to the bottom one sometime last year.

But I should let Fable Fawg continue this meme for me and explain everything la. Why? It was him who chose, created and photoshopped the profile pic for me (kan I ni technology illiterate?). So I let him continue to do No.2, 3 and 4. Kakakakaka!

See, my post title also in his format liao: "The one with ....".

So I expect to see his next post title to be The One With Meme #15 hor.... :p

LOL! Fables, you're next (again)!

The Night CGYOOMH Died...

After watching last night’s episode of AI, I feel compelled to comment on the show. They absolutely killed the song!! The AI Top 8 slaughtered Ms. Minogue’s infectious tune. Awful!! OMG! Whoever chose that song for them to sing should be booted out! And that's what the judges have been saying all the time: Song Choice!!!! A dance track is dance track, no matter how catchy it is... it is not "We are the World"... group performance on a dance track will not work, especially one which requires attitude, sexiness and diva-ness to execute. And no one else can sing that song with such attitude and sexiness apart from Minogue!!!

And what's with Kelly Pickler? She performed last year, and she performed again this year! And she was just one of Idol finalist. Not even in Top 5, I think. She was all pitchy all over her own song. Bad! Bad! Bad!

OK, so we’re down from 8 to 7. Lil should be booted out next. They’ve given her enough chances already week after week. One word: Lame. I didn’t think Anoop and Matt’s vocals were great either. And I’m not a fan of Danny. He just irritates the hell out of me.

My pick for the top three finalists? Adam, Kris and Allison. I’m not too sure about Allison yet, but lately she seems to be original enough in her performances. Kris has that cute boyish looks and has been consistently in control and doing well, except maybe for the last round. Adam has been the most versatile and original of the lot, and he was able to pull it off every time he takes the stage on the most challenging songs and performances.

Dollars, Ringgit and Sense

I cannot understand why people keep saying that the cost of living in KL is low.... "the lowest in region" they say.

Well, true if you earn your money in other countries and spend it here. Unless you're a visitor/traveller, you should never convert the currency. But what if you earn in ringgit and spend it here like the rest of us do? Then, it becomes a lot more expensive to live and spend here!

I did a rough random comparison of costs for supposedly "cheap" KL and "very expensive" island nation down south.

But first, income. You earn a lot more in SG than in KL. For example in the company I worked in, a fresh grad in KL earns only RM2 K /month, while in SG, the grad would get paid up to S$ 2.5 K /month. I am certain that this is the case for all jobs - you get paid more in SG than in KL.

Now what about costs and expenses? Here's a very brief and random comparison.

S$ RM

Economy Rice (3 dishes) S$3.80 RM5.50

McD Breakfast Meal S$5.50 RM8.10

Spaghetti (restaurant) S$15.00 RM22.00

Sunscreen S$12.70 RM31.90

Long Sleeve shirt ~S$50.00 ~RM80.00

Car ~ $50 K (exclude COE) ~RM85 K

Petrol price S$1.5–1.6/liter RM1.8/liter

Gym membership ~S$110 /month ~RM175/month

Club cover charge ~ S$20 /entry ~RM35/entry

As for local transport, you don't need a car in SG. My friend spends S$100 /month on transport, while I spend RM 400 /month (inclusive petrol, parking fees, car maintenance, but excluding toll).

What about housing? This is a little more complicated to compare, as it depends on location, age and size. Yes, houses in SG are apparently expensive. Flats are priced from S$250 K. But the condition of a flat is equivalent to a medium cost condominium in KL which also fetches a price of at least RM200-280 K close to the city.

It is obvious that KL is not "cheap" after all. You spend a higher percentage of your income on your daily expenses. At the end of the month, you have a lower disposable income... less to save/invest. And I heard income tax in SG is much lower also!

Did I miss something? Have I miscalculated? Do these make sense?

* ps. I bought a prepaid card for S$28 which has a credit of S$28 for international calls and S$100 for local calls. By dialling a special access number, you get extremely cheap rates. I noted that an (international) call I made back to KL .... spoke for 18 minutes but costs S$1.44 only!!! I don't normally chit-chat with friends on the phone here (expensive ma!), but I was happily chitchatting with them for hours when I was in SG!!!

Girl Attack - Please Don't Touch Me!

So the sisters came for a (rather short) visit last weekend and were itching to visit the hottest nightclubs. But by nighttime, they were all exhausted from walking the whole day … unaccustomed to having to walk so much.

As we strolled up Neil Road around half past eleven, it was typically quiet in the area … no traffic jam, no touts, no prostitutes, no crowd. No party atmosphere. But Tantric was full house. We were unsure if we should go in or head to Taboo, which seemed to be rather unhappening at that time. So we decided we should just go in look see look see. The music they were playing was good pop, but too bad no one was moving/dancing to the groove. Most were busy chatting and drinking, and majority of the guys looked rather foreign. We don’t drink, we don’t want to chat, we didn’t look particularly well-dressed up either, and we don’t have friends to kiss and hug in there either. We want to dance!!! So we decided to get out.

Taboo still looked quiet from the outside, but Sindy was just too tired to agree to walking round the corner to check out Play. We hung around for a while before deciding to get into Taboo.

It was not very happening either, and only a couple of people were dancing. We got our free drinks, and settled down on the second floor couch. The sisters got mineral water (wakakaka!), but I was determined to get some alcohol – I don’t have to drive home you see. But I’m such jakun when it comes to alcohol… I only know 3 words … beer, wine, vodka …. don’t tell me specific names etc etc… I don’t know! I settled for beer, but there were a few choices which we don’t normally get back home. And I pointed to some Filipino beer (San Miguel or St Miguel?? Whatever!). Haiya, I was embarrassed I didn’t know how to order la, and fled the bar counter after I was handed the huge mug.

Tricia and I decided to boogie woogie, and was later joined by Jaslene. It was way past Sindy’s bedtime and she decided to just laze around the sofa.

People were just too friendly, and that’s where the problem is. A thin girl (real one ok!) who was originally dancing with a guy, started to dance with Tricia. And Thin Real Girl was all over Tricia. Such a salah sight! Tricia and a real girl groping??? Then, a while later a rather plump girl (real one also) came and dance with Tricia and Jaslene. Hands all over, and I laughed. A moment later my nightmare began.

Plump Real Girl turned and attacked hugged me, and her hands were all over my body! OMG! OMG!!! She grabbed Tricia and all three of us were dancing, and she moved her hands up and down our bodies, grabbed our crotch, then squeezed our butts, and tried to put her hands in our pants! OMFG!

All the while I was going “Shit! Shit! Shit!” And her big boobs rubbing my chest, right under my nose!!! What am I supposed to do with them? Grab and squeeze them??!

I almost wanted to leave, but Thin Real Girl and Plump Real Girl must have sensed we kept our hands to ourselves, and back off a little bit. But they were there the whole night, and would come on and off to us.

Yuks!

It was such a traumatic experience!

Guys, what would you do if a girl comes up to you and start groping you?

Run to You

Over there, in the past 20 days, we've seen each other almost every other day.

Now over here...

At night, I come home and turn the key
There's nobody there, no one cares for me

I need you here
I need you here to wipe away my tears

I wanna run to you

Gonad Foundation

I used to get spam sms-es from various sources regarding product sales, promotions at pubs (which I don’t go – don’t know how the hell they got my number), and recently about subscribing and downloading hot videos (presumably of local politicians) for a small fee. But one boring Friday evening last month, I received the sms below from an unfamiliar number:

Dear Mr. XX.
Thank you for
interest in our
harvesting project.
Please send in the
testicle donation
consent form
soonest possible so
that we may begin
process
.

At first, I laughed out loud and excitedly showed the ‘silly spam’ message to my colleagues. Then I scrolled up again, and saw my name. My name!!! OMG!!!!

How come spam sms also know my name one? No more laughing anymore – I start to panic! How do these people get my number AND my name? This is serious.
I didn’t think it was any of my friends playing prank, cos they’re all decent fellas, not pranksters.
Where did I recklessly leave my number AND name? I was worried that it’s gonna be troublesome that I might need to change my number! Damn I should be more careful leaving my contact details next time I sign up for something. Panic! Panic!

I asked my colleague to call the number back, but using the office phone. But then I realized, I had better speak to the person myself, just in case the person have evil intentions etc etc.

When a boyish voice answered my call, I demanded to know who he was. He continued on to introduce himself from the Gonad Foundation, about finding testicle donors. He spoke very fluently in English, without any ahhhs... or errrs..... very smooth and no breaks in his sentences ... eloquent.... and with that I became more confused!

"This is a joke. Who's this? Who's this? No, no, no..." I must have said, still confused and a little nervous, unsure.

Then I thought I could hear a little giggle on the other side .....

" .....who else would talk like that.... " the voice spoke, I could only catch part of what he said .... it was a little too fast for a confused mind.

"It's Janvier la..."

ISH!!!!

* This happened one month earlier, but it could have been a great April Fool prank.

This Is Not The Time

I used to think I could be slutty, to "eat out" while seeing someone, but it turns out I'm a loyal person after all. After meeting Bert, I stopped thinking about dark and humid places. In fact, I had wanted to go again (since I have signed up for multiple passes when I first arrived - I signed up cos I thought I will be bored and needed an avenue for some kind of release), but somehow I felt a pang of guilt. In fact, I asked Bert if I could go, so as not to waste those unused passes! Damn, what a waste of money!

Time is running out, as I will be leaving very soon. Although this is the right time to believe in love, I have to be practical about it. In fact, I've been a little too practical since Day 1. As much as I want this to work, the unfortunate circumstances will work against it. I don't know what to do.

Although he didn't say it directly, already, Bert hinted here and there, and I presume he wanted more ... this to go on. Can it?

If only I could be less practical. Perhaps this is not the time for it.

This Is The Right Time

.

People automatically assume you're "too choosy" if you happen to be single after so many years. In my case, I've never been in any relationship even though I've lived to half my expected lifespan (this is so sad). I've had crushes, flings, chicken and duck relationship .... but nothing serious... nothing intense ... none lasted long enough to be certain that it was really love.

When I shared my frustrations, friends would reply "you have too high QC", "you're too choosy", "you don't make enough effort" etc etc... apparently it was always my fault. Yes, perhaps I didn't make enough effort but I'm generally rather shy and quiet person. But to say that I am "choosy" is absolutely incorrect. I object!!!

Frankly, no one has seriously pursued me for love before. I've never been loved (yes, this is so sad ... again). And over time, I begin to wonder if there was something really wrong with me... perhaps I'm unattractive, perhaps I have bad attitude, perhaps I smell .... why no one interest in me at all? When I look around, even people with horrible behaviour are happily in relationships. Even people who are ugly have beautiful partners. One man's meat is another man's poison.... so there should be some one for me too. I don't have to be a magnet, but I don't want to be a repellent either [I'll blog about my ability to repel people (at least that's what I think) another time la].

That's why I've somewhat given up believing. Trust me, at some point, you don't have any ego or confidence left at all if you keep scoring negatives. A little reassurance will be of great help, to believe in yourself, to believe in love, to believe you have what it takes for someone else to love you.

In the past ten days or so, Bert has given me that little assurance. We've seen each other almost every other day, and in my life I have never felt anything like that since I met him. He makes me feel comfortable. I feel love. This is the right time to believe in love.

For They Have Sinned

So I had several hours of intercourse (ok ... the non-sexual meaning of the word lah! LOL!) with two of the hottest sinful bloggers in the island down south.

First, I messaged Buaya (I won't link his site here, I think he wants to remain as anon as possible :p) via e-mail to ask if he wanna meet up. Naturally, he took all necessary precautions to ensure I was not a fake (I was rather vague about who I was in my first email), and soon we met up two Saturdays ago in Chinatown. Since I had eaten dinner a bit and he hadn't, we went to have some yummy noodles, walked around Chinatown a bit (he pointed out one dark and humid place other than Absolute), then went to McD's for more chit chat.

Then, I sms-ed Sgboy and as I was loitering around (yeah, I was bored to death) the Heeren last Sunday afternoon, he called and said he was able to meet at the cruisy and very gay coffee place there. I last met him briefly at Kylie's concert last November.... and had thought his legs were all tattoo-ed, but his legs this time turned out rather smooth and fairly hairless! No more tattoo??? Apparently, it wasn't tattoo but some kind of design sleeves (forgot what it's called liao) which he slipped onto his calves during Kylie.

So we chatted and chatted. There was this guy reading his bible and making notes seated on the table next to us, just less than 2 feet away. He would have heard everything we said ... all those sinful things. LOL! We weren't shy about it. Sgboy thought he must be also enjoying listening to our conversation. When I went to the toilet, Sgboy observed him praying before he left the table. He must have recited "God, please forgive them, for they have sinned". LOL! LOL!

Walk walk here

A couple of weeks ago, I was over-msned. Now, I'm under-blogged. Reason? I'm on a working trip to the fabulous island down below. Clean, neat, tidy, proper, well-planned, and most importantly, a comfortable place to live.

The only thing I have to complain is the use of public transport. Although it's extremely convenient and cheap, you have to do quite a bit of walking to get to the stations and stops. Walk walk walk. Then you hop on. Hop off, then walk walk walk and you arrive at your destination. To go back/home, walk walk walk again. Hop on and Hop off. Walk walk walk. Like OMFG! I've never walked so much in my life!!!! That's why I didn't even go to the gym here. By the time I get to the gym, my legs are tired liao!

The island is full of hot tanned skin boys and men!!! They're like everywhere, and I can't stop drooling. My eyes are tired devouring them up! And of course, the mandatory dark and humid places to visit.

Am arranging to catch up with a few old friends (including Mick, who is now working here, Swanny who's recently gone through a terrible divorce, and Sunshine who seems very happy here), and met up with a new blogger buddy. It's been rather busy and I hope to catch up with a couple more. In the meantime, sweet Bert, whom I met in a dark and humid place, has been keeping me company occasionally, otherwise I'd gotten all lonely and bored here after work.

I don't have convenient internet connection as I am out on site everyday, so I won't have time and energy to blog. But Fable's gonna say it's just all excuses! - afterall he's been hospitalised for so many days and he can still blog!! Wakakaka!

Meanwhile, I'll continue to walk walk here and walk walk there, walk here walk there, everywhere walk walk!

Male Idols

I was never quite interested in sports, but us Malaysian kids, we all watched a game or two of badminton once in a while. I was bored my brains out last weekend so I decided to watch the All-England Open finals with my dad. It was the match between our own "khiap see" player and China's dashing Lin Dan ... no prizes for guessing which fella I supported. :p

Yummilicious Lin Dan. Ain't he cute??
And tonite, I was drooling over a very cute Top 13 contestant in American Idol, Kris Allen.

I must say that they look much much better on TV than in these still photographs. Looks like I've found my sports and music idols. LOL!

Over MSN-ed

The economy is getting from bad to worse, but the government seem to remain as positive as it could, albeit news of facility shutdowns, employee lay-offs etc etc.

So, I just told a friend that "I am very free during office hours, but I am busy after office hours." Isn't it great to get paid even for doing nothing? So ya think! Not really.... Apart from worrying that prolonged idle time at work will eventually lead to "cost-cutting measures" (I won't say the word here, but you know what I mean), my short-term headache is how to spend 9 hours a day in the office doing nothing!!! There is only this much "self development" (ie. reading up new things to enhance one's skills and knowledge) one can do in a day. I have over-facebooked, and over-emailed. Even I have over-msned the equally restless Jaslene who has complained she's sick and bored of the internet! First it was msn, then we met at gtalk, then back to msn again, then later we chatted in gtalk again. OMG! But thank you Jaslene for saving my days ... all the other msn-ers seem to be quite busy or not logged in. And I think we're also running out of things to chat about! Maybe we should start gossiping about others!

So, I thought I could do some sinning by downloading music, but apparently it hogged the entire bandwidth and my other colleagues have difficulty surfing the net or checking their email, so I have to abandon the plan! Ish!

Web Personals

So, a close girl friend got married yesterday. I couldn't help but feel so happy for her that she's finally found her man and now they got married!

It was just a few years back when she was so worried and afraid that she would never get married. That was when she decided to sign up for an internet matchmaking service, and put up her personal profile.

I remembered she was so scared and ashamed that she had to resort to internet dating to get to know more male friends. But once she got comfortable with that, she got excited and was full of anticipation, but that eventually turned into frustration when her efforts yield no positive results. There were times she almost gave up hope of ever finding a suitable man... a boyfriend and hopefully a good husband.

And now, less than 3 years later, she's happily married to a great guy she met through the internet dating service.

I'm now inspired by her success story and I'm wondering if I should actively resume the hunt for my man in those gay personals, which I have largely abandoned so many years ago. Perhaps it's time to update my Fridae and Axcest profiles (and perhaps gaydar? any other personals websites?), put up new pics, be a bit more thick-skin and start messaging interesting guys online.

Perhaps in a couple of years time, I too will have a success story to tell and show.

Perhaps.

Self Control

Have you ever let yourself loose cruising in the park late a night .... at the Lost World, Jurassic Park or KJ Park? Or perhaps in dimly lit corridors of Babylon, Mirage, Otot2?

Have you ever lived among the creatures of the night?

Wanting, yearning....

Have you ever felt that it's taken your self control?

Needing, waiting....

That you haven't got the will to try and fight?

Some of you may have succumbed to the addiction, like how a friend of mine did when he cruised the parks till the early morning almost every other day... regular visits to the saunas...
(He has since settled down with his partner)

I believe this song and video, Self Control, somewhat captures that.

The song was performed by one of my favourite singers, Laura Branigan. The song was released in 1984, an instant international hit. The video was somewhat banned by MTV for being too saucy and suggestive.

It was re-recorded and remixed with techno-dance flavour by the Royal Gigolos in 2004; an edited version of it appeared in the second "block" of BodyJam 38.

At one point or another in our lives, most of us would have cruised the parks or the saunas.... even if it's just once, to see what's out there. Did you?

Of Course We Boleh!

So, did you get stuck in the massive, massive, massive peak hour traffic jam Friday morning? Oh, yes, the powers that be, felt it necessary to block of at least 5 km of two major suburban highways and an arterial road at 815 am. All to make way for thirty-something cyclists.

But what are the doing in KL and PJ? They're supposed to be in Langkawi anyways! Ish!

We heard an announcement on the radio the day before, warning that the Sprint Highway, a road in Taman Tun and the LDP will be affected. So we checked the website of the supposedly state-of-the-art transport information system. I expected up-to-date information, showing detailed route of the "cycling tour" and roads affected in fancy colourful maps. Instead, we were provided with a pathetic badly scanned google earth image ... showing only one small section of the route!

Hmm let's see, what was the impact of the 1.5 hour road closure?

- Traffic jam all over Petaling Jaya and surrounding areas, including roads and highways leading to Jln Damansara, Sprint Highway and LDP. The traffic even backlogged right up to the Bukit Jelutong interchange on the NKVE!

- The traffic at the Jln Abu Bakar-Sprint Highway intersection only cleared at 11am. That means almost 3 hours. What a waste of time for those poor motorists!

- Assuming a conservative 100,000 road users and commuters were affected that morning, meaning that up to 300,000 manhours lost. Convert that to ringgit, assuming an average rate of RM25/hour, RM7.5 million worth of useful work not done.

- What about important business meetings and deals?

Le tour boleh! The transport information system boleh! Malaysia boleh ma!

p/s: I was lucky I wasn't stuck in the jam.

Alone But Not Lonely?

OK, Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and as usual, it will pass as just another insignificant day for me. Love has never come my way. I've never really been very proactive in looking for love anyways.

I've been wondering that in spite of being single, these past few years I've never actually felt lonely or sad. Sure, once in a while, I'd wish I have someone to have dinner with at home (I hate eating alone!), and occasionally gripe/blog/complain about being single, but majority of the time, I'm actually quite perfectly fine by myself. Or am I?

Long long time ago (ok, maybe not that long! - say 6 to 8 years back), I could easily feel the loneliness and I could feel the aching and yearning for love deep down in my heart. I used to meet up quite a few guys from online personals, but none yielded any anticipated results, although I do eventually become good friends with one or two of them.

But not anymore. I realised that I've stopped looking quite a few years back. They say that it will come when you stop looking, but it never came. My most recent effort was to sign up Facebook (blogged about this last year) which was highly recommmended to be the place to meet new people. For me, it's mostly become the place to be in touch with people I already know.

I see quite a few friends who could never seem to be comfortable being alone or single, even for a short time. After they get over the past one, they will make it their mission to find a new partner/lover as soon as possible, almost by-hook-or-by-crook kind of manner. As if being single is a crime, a sin. If only I could be just as aggressive.

But then again, I've never really look out for love. Is this normal? Am I being too comfortable by myself? Have I given up too soon? Will I grow old and one day wishing I had done more?

Medical Certificate of Illness

I am sensing that I may have blogged about getting sick and getting an MC before, but I can’t find it in my blog. Anyways….

I don’t know, but I always feel guilty whenever I go see the doctor to ask for an MC. I may feel rather sick before seeing the doctor, but as I step into the clinic, I would miraculously feel much better. My coughing would stop, my throat would feel less sore, my fever milder … as if those germs and viruses knew that they better behave.

But if I don’t appear as sick as I should be, then I would have very little reason to ask for an MC. I’m not good at pretending to be very sick, and I’m not good at telling lies either. It's a sin telling lies you know?!

I always felt that the doctor will think that I ask for an MC because I’m just being lazy and not because I’m not fit to work. Perhaps in some sense, may be I am just being plain lazy…. but how do you draw the line between being fit to work and unfit to work? How does the doctor know? After all, different people have different tolerance for pain and discomfort.

I always find it hard asking for an MC. It feels as if I always have to beg for one. And that doctor appears to be stingy in giving out MCs.

Doctor:
“When you come back to work tomorrow, take the other cough medicine that doesn’t make you feel drowsy.”

Me thinks:
When I come back to work tomorrow? Hello?! What makes you think I’ll be well enough to work tomorrow? I’ve got the flu! It will normally take at least 4 days of rest to get well! I don’t want to work if I’m still sneezing and coughing, or if my throat hurts! I can’t come back tomorrow! I want to feel drowsy and go to sleep! I deserve an MC for the next four days … at least!

Please, can someone tell me how best I can get an MC without feeling guilty? And any doctor friends who can issue me free MCs on a regular basis???

Passive Self On Sale

"Instead of being shy, keeping quiet and doing nothing, you have to think of ways to sell yourself and come right out." WMW said, in reference to the time when I was just too shy to do anything when I sat just next to this hot cutie, a friend of Jaslene.

Easier said than done!

I don't know, but I've always been shy - in social functions when meeting new friends, and especially so if I have the hots for the other person.

I get tongue-tied. I blush. I get butterflies in my stomach. I don't look at the hottie in the eye(but what I really wanted to do was to rape him ...). My mind goes blank. I get very self-conscious.

Passive. Poor self-confidence? Afraid of what people might think of me? Fear of rejection? It would have been much easier if that hottie is friendly, but hotties are not particularly friendly people (ops! Sorry, it's just an excuse!). And I don't have that magnetic personality that attracts people. Whatever the reasons are, the results have always been this: Lost opportunities to hook up.

Argh!

Damn! I need to get over my shyness and put up an agressive sales pitch! I need a marketing manager/strategist!

Beautiful Cock

It was a quiet afternoon in the gym. From the corner of my eyes, I instinctively spotted an edible solidly built Chinese guy across the free weights area. He too eyed me as he stretched his taut chest muscles.

Our paths crossed again later at the drinks area, both of us secretly exchanging glances.

Half an hour later, after my workout, I hit the showers and decided to sweat it out a little bit more in the sauna. I pulled the door open, and there he was, that same edible guy … sitting on the bench facing the door … his smooth skin glistened with sweat and flushed from the heat of the sauna … his legs wide apart … no towels … his hung low from his pubes … on display in its full glory…

It was the most beautiful cock I have ever seen for a long time. In spite of its flaccid state, it was rather large, must have been about 6 inches long and 1.5 inches diameter, enhanced by the perfect mushroom head.

Too bad as after I sat down, he shyly covered his meat with his towel. I wasn’t prepared to react in such a situation. I was too dumbfounded to say anything smart, to smile, or to do anything naughty! Tick tock tick tock tick tock … moments passed and he soon stepped out of that suffocating oven. Damn! What a waste of a beautiful cock! It should have been serviced by yours truly right there and then!

Now, what would you have done in that instant if you find yourself in a similar situation?

Charming Ha Noi

It was mid-winter when we visited Ha Noi. The cool crisp 16 °C air was a pleasant departure from the usual hot and humid Malaysia. Although the winter clouds cast a gloom to the city, it could not take away the vibrancy of street commercialism, the seductive architecture, the colourful culture, and of course, the din of thousands of motor scooters.

Take a leisurely stroll along the streets and side lanes of Han Noi and absorb the unmistakable old-world charm of the Old Quarter. Alternatively, call for a cyclo to chauffeur you around for a mere 50,000 dong an hour, or even cheaper. Once you step in a cyclo, you are the king of the streets, oblivious to the oncoming traffic, as you stop in the middle of the busy road or junction busy taking pictures.

The Hoan Kiem Lake in the middle of the city in shades of grey of the evening winter sky.

Not to be missed is a mandatory visit to the water puppet ‘musical’ show at the Thang Long Puppet Theatre. Book your tickets early in the day. Entry ticket costs 60,000 dong (RM 14) per person. Each show consist of a 17 short stories, narrated and sung in the Vietnamese language. We could not understand a word, but the uniqueness of the music, the water puppets and the performance was nevertheless enjoyable. There are programme leaflets in English, French and German that to help you understand the theme of each story.

Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum is probably the single biggest tourist attraction in Ha Noi. Thousands of local and foreign visitors throng the mausoleum-museum-pagoda complex under tight security every day. We have not seen such a large crowd of tourists in a single destination before.

The peaceful and tree-lined streets ... the romantic and surprisingly well-preserved French architecture exudes a different kind of atmosphere in the French Quarter. Other well-known buildings with French/western influence architecture includes The Hanoi Opera House, Sofitel Metropole and the St. Joseph Cathedral.

A visit to northern Vietnam is incomplete without a trip to see Halong Bay, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Book a guided tour in advance to see breathtaking limestone islets emerging from the surface of the sea... the place where the dragon descends. Visit the beautiful natural formations of the limestone caves, or merely enjoy the panoramic view of the bay from your junk. There are hundreds of travel agents in the Old Quarter to choose from. Take a day tour for a mere US$22, or stay overnight on board the junk for the romantic sunrise experience.

Another must-visit place in Northern Vietnam is SaPa Village, close to te border of China. But gave it a miss this time due to time constraints (you will need to take an overnight train to reach the nearest town, Lao Cai) and unfavourable weather conditions. High up in the hill, winter temperatures may drop to a minimum of 2 °C.

And of course, the north Vietnamese boys are cute, cute, cute!! No sinful activities though, but the eyes do get lots of exercise! I heart Ha Noi and the boys!

All That Matters

Love is supposed to be unconditional.
We should give our love, our care, our attention, our resources, our effort, without expecting anything in return.
So they say.

Love.
For our family … our soul mate … our friends.

Those little things to show that you loved and cared.
That you remembered.
That we matter.

Those little gifts, treats and favours in kind.
That offer to help out without any need for us to ask for one.
That simple phone-call just to say ‘hi-what’s up?’.
That caring gesture in times of need and sickness.
That shoulder to cry on.

Those words of encouragement.
That moral and emotional support.
That birthday wish.
That thank-you note.

Sometimes, it is never reciprocated.
Forgotten.
Are you that busy?
Is it that difficult to pick up the phone and make that call?
Or are you just too self-absorbed?

Or perhaps we didn't matter at all.

Love is supposed to be unconditional.
Or not?
We could never be so calculating, could we?

But, the truth is
It matters that we matter.

Else, we move on
To find that place where we matter.

Makan-makan @ Ha Noi

Okay, I'm not a food blogger like Jaslene or WMW, but I feel I should write a little bit about the "interesting" food that Evie and I had on our recent trip to Ha Noi.

Food served aboard Halong Bay Boat Ride

As the boat left the Bai Chay Tourist Wharf on mainland, we were served local Vietnamese food which was cooked in a small kitchen on the boat. I didn't get any details of the names of the food though. Such a lousy flogger aren't I? But I did take a few pics.

Taste a bit like fried popiah.

Layered fried eggs.

Tofu.

Fish.

Com Viet Restaurant
40, Ly Thai To Street
For dinner on our first day, we tried the restaurant recommended by Rachel, which serves a broad selection of local Vietnamese cuisine. It was fairly quiet when we arrived; there was an Australian couple dining. We ordered roasted pigeon, pork stew and stir fry vegetable (can’t remember the name). It wasn’t great, but I loved the ‘crispy’ roasted pigeon. Yummy!

See! See! The pigeon head!

As we were about to leave for the Water Puppet show, three girls all dressed up in traditional Vietnamese costume, started to perform a few traditional music instruments.

Cha Ca La Vong
14, Cha Cha Street

A must-eat local cuisine for every visitor to Ha Noi – the erroneously labeled “grilled” fish. It is actually pieces of tumeric coated fish fillet fried in groundnut oil (plenty of it) in a pan mounted on a little charcoal stove. You will then have to add a fairly significant amount of spring onions, coriander and basil leaves, and a bit of peanuts, into the pan with the fish and stir-fry. Instead of rice, you eat it with rice noodles. Costs RM20 per person! Rather pricey if you ask me!

Apparently, this place is listed under Patricia Shultz's "1000 places to see before you die". Indeed, an intriguing food experience that should not be missed when in Hanoi!

Quan An Ngan
Phan Boi Chau Street
This little food oasis is tucked in the shady corner of Phan Boi Chau St. We had never intended to come here in first place. We told our cyclo man to recommend a good roadside ‘pho bo’ or beef noodle. We had wanted to experience eating local noodles by the roadside, sitting on those tiny stools. Instead, he misunderstood us, and he brought us to this fairly classy “foodcourt”.

The entrepreneur had refurbished an old bungalow, and had nicely converted and done up the entire place into foodcourt with a tasteful design and concept. Customers mainly comprise smartly dressed office workers, rich to middle class locals, and of course, tourists. You get to choose a variety of local fare from more than 10 food counters.

I tried the Bun Oc Om Chuoi Dau (Braised Snails with banana & tofu served with rice noodle), while Eve tried Mien Mang Suon Moc (Bamboo cassava noodle soup with pork ribs and pork balls). We shared the desert, Xoi Vo (glutinous rice cooked with split peas).

I love my dish – a traditional local food in northern Vietnam – the snails were crunchy rather than chewy. The pieces of bananas in the soup were cooked with the skin and you were meant to eat all of it – I confirmed it with a Hanoian man seated next to me. Food prices were reasonable. We only spent a total of RM14 here!

Local Vietnamese coffee mamak
Next to St Joseph's Cathedral

As what Fable referred to as local 'mamak' in his sms, we decided to sit down by the sidewalk on those little chairs and have Vietnamese coffee and people-watch. It was indeed very relaxing with the cool temperature and watch the day pass by. I'm not much of a coffee person, but Evie loved the coffee so much, she decided to buy a few packets of Vietnamese instant coffee from a local convenience store.
