A reflexologist recently "diagnosed" that there could be something wrong with my sister's breast... a lump maybe. According to my sister, sometimes she could "feel" as if there's something not right with her breast too.
But she refused to get it checked up by a doctor. She had seen so many of her friends her age who had suffered immensely and eventually died from one cancer or another ... breast, colon, cervical etc etc...
"What for go check up? Eventually there is no escape and you eventually die anyway. And all the useless and painful treatment that you have to go through. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of ringgit you have to spend. All for what? To buy extra few months to live?"
There was no way to argue or convince my sister. She always win in any argument. She's got a point though. The painful and super expensive treatment is just going to eat into your family savings and extend the time a little bit, but the pain and suffering will always be there. Buy more time to suffer and let the hospital get richer?
"If..... if let's say I have cancer, I'd rather claim all the money from my insurance and quickly use the money to travel the world," she added.

Reflexology diagnosing a lump in the breast?! Wah. If she wants the insurance money, she would have to prove her condition by going to the doctor first... (provided she bought a Critical Illness policy and the hypothetical cancer is at the 3rd stage) Early stage detection has a good survival rate...
It could be a non cancerous lump. She can always go to a female doctor if she is uncomfortable with a male doctor. Please convince her to get it checked.
please persuade her to get it properly checked. the reflexologist just supected it, but it wasn't a proper diagnosis. early stage breast cancer can be treated, there are a lot of breast cancer survivors out there. but for what we know, it might just be a benign lump. so it's best to clarify it.
As the two other med ppl above has mentioned, it's always better to get it checked... most lumps are not cancerous really!
and early detection really saves lives! very true in cases of breast ca!
