2007 "deeperanddeeper" Travel Log

I usually don't travel much, but this year alone, due to work commitments, I was required to travel to India (twice), Thailand (once), Singapore (once), Korea (once) and Indonesia (thrice). Locally, there's Penang (countless), East Coast, Johor, Kuching and Labuan. Mostly, I didn't have the time to do sightseeing, and the places that I go to are uninteresting. But there are quite a few very interesting and memorable places which I have captured on camera:

The Church of Bom Jesus, Old Goa. More photos here.

Beautiful geological outcrop 120 km south of Coimbatore.

Well-maintained pre-war shophouses in Singapore

Well, it ain't that nice if you travel alone. It is always the companionship of friends that brings the joy of travelling to a much higher level. Apart from the Christina Concert trip to Singapore, I also had a very enjoyable road trip to Ipoh, Kellie's Castle and Cameron with the gang.

We spotted this cutie up at the mountains. (Hope he didn't mind his pic here)

Looking Forward 2008

Not too sure where else I'll be visiting next year. But definitely the state of Gujarat, India, for work in the next month. I don't mind a cuti-cuti Malaysia, but I'd like to spend a few days away from KL. Hmm... maybe that Serendah place that a few other bloggers visited this year? Or perhaps, somewhere bitchy (hehe... no la.... beachy).

I'd love to laze around by the beach under the sun with this guy.

2007 "deeperanddeeper" Music Log

For me, it has been a very exciting year for me! Two live concerts!!!

Christina Aguilera in Singapore (June 30, 07)

Gwen Stefani in Kuala Lumpur (August 21, 2007)

Then, there was the much awaited release of Kylie's new album in four years. I instantly loved it the moment I put the disc in the player. Welcome back, Kylie!

Kylie in 2 Hearts

Well, then of course, there was the Live Earth Concert on TV where Madonna performed Hey You, Ray of Light, La Isla Bonita and Hung Up. It is also the first time they showed Madonna's live performances on national TV. They usually edit her out.

This is also the first year that two major divas did not place a single in the Billboard Hot 100 single chart. Madonna has continuously charted in the Hot 100 chart since 1983's Holiday. Mariah has also placed a single every year in the Hot 100 since Vision of Love in 1990.

But are Madonna and Mariah fans worried? Should they be? Perhaps a little bit, in the era of Beyonce, Rihanna and Fergie. But both stars have been around for a very long time, and have developed a very large loyal fan base (just do a search on the net and you'll be amazed by the large numbers of established fan sites). Industry experts reckoned they'll continue to do just fine with the new albums out in 2008. While the topic is on Mariah, I'll just sneak in here a favourite mockery of Mariah (which I have posted before... I can never get tired of reading this funny album cover).

Looking Forward 2008

So what's in store for 2008?! I don't know if there'll be any more interesting concerts around this region. At the moment, I am looking forward to see what is Kylie's next single would be. Rumours have it that it will be Wow, or In My Arms, but I hope it receives better reception than 2 Hearts. And I wonder if she'll ever come to South East Asia for her concert??

I am so looking forward to Madonna's new album, in which she collaborated and reportedly even did duets with Timbaland and the hawtness below:

2007 "deeperanddeeper" Gym Log

This year started off with a bang! It was about the tailend of BodyJam 38 then. Yes, with the gang, all addicted to BodyJam, we were almost in all BodyJam classes at Manulife, except classes during working hours. Being regulars, we soon made friends with other regulars. We travelled "cross- country" to IOI (to lend support to our then favourite instructor) and to LeisureMall (to check out what masculine Jam is all about - orgasmic!).

Then, Sindy upgraded to passport apparently for "convenience and health reasons", but we all knew it was for better opportunities in the pursuit of a mate. We were right. In less than 4 months, he got attached! Since then, he would only attend a Jam class in Manulife at most once a week.

As the year progressed, our favourite instructor began to fall out of favour amongst us. The unnecessary teasing/humiliation in class. And the same few tracks repeatedly (but in retrospect, I don't think the instructor is to be blamed on this one though, apparently, some members prefer to do the same tracks over and over again every class. Phuh!).

As year end approaches, after comtemplating long enough, I upgraded to passport to have a taste of variety of classes and instructors. Cardiodance became an instant favourite, but still have a lot to work on those challenging moves. Our interest in Jam waned quite drastically. 3 - 4 classes a week became only at most 2 classes currently. I intend to reduce it to only once a week next year!

Healthwise, it was a terrible year! I visited the doctor on a monthly basis for all sorts of ailment, but mostly due to fever, cough, sore throat, dizzy spells. I estimated that I was sick for at least 120 days this year! And right now as I am typing this, the recurring blockage of my right ear is irritating me, and i have a terrible painful mouth ulcer that has lasted a week! And of course, with my poor health, my weight training regime suffered. Earlier this year, I have managed to toned up to almost 59 kgs from 55 kgs. Friends were giving good feedback on my improved shape, but that was soon lost due to recurring sickness. I am now back to 55 kgs! Damn!

Looking Forward 2008

But regardless, I am looking forward to the New Year and I wished very hard that there will be fewer impediments to my weight training regime and cardio classes.
My target classes to attend (per week):
- BodyJam: 1
- Basic Step*: 1
- Cardiodance: 1
- Pilates*: 1
* On trial basis for 2 months.

Weight training:
- 3 - 4 times a week
- Up bodyweight from 55 kg to 57 kg (1st quarter)
- Up bodyweight from 57 kg to 58 kg (2nd quarter)
- Up bodyweight to 60 kg (by year end)

My inspiration?

Great size and shape for a bod, isn't it?

Scar

The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now...

How could I ever let this year pass by without remembering the 10th anniversary of the two very significant events in my life? As I was reorganizing my personal files in my drawer today, I came across an old folder where I had kept some of my most intimate and private letters and pieces of journal entries, where I have poured my heart out, documenting every little detail on the year that was: 1997. I have somewhat forgotten exactly how it had been... until today.

How could I forget?

Yes ..... July 2, 1997 ...... the day I finally liberated myself and first came out to Michael, at Light's Vision (or "The Park" as we fondly called it). There was no other way around it. It was such a relief, and Michael, the youngest of the brothers from Darwin, who was just going on 18 then, was as supportive as he could ever be. But I sensed it was somewhat a burden to him, for he knew something no one else did. Within the next two months, I came out to a few more friends. But the sense of relief was shortlived and I was back all gloomy again. I realized that no matter how selfish it was, for the sake of my sanity, I needed to liberate myself once again, and it was probably the most difficult thing I ever had to do in my adult life.

3 am, Sept 20, 1997 ..... Margaret Street ..... one night before Impressions. As I uttered the words "I like you Michael", I instantly turned away. Embarassed. Shy. Unable to bear the awkwardness of it all. Afraid of what will happen next. Michael stepped forward and looked at me and said "It's alright."

I probably freaked Michael out big time, and now in retrospect, he was probably the coolest dude I've ever known from the way he handled such situations.

Back then, there were lots of crying and I was a wreck. But over the years, my heart has turned hard and cold. I had never shed a tear or truly loved anyone since. And now, I realized I had possessed a somewhat distant soul.

My first love. The scar was deeper than I thought.

The Lazy Post

As the year draws to a close, I have so many thoughts, but lazy to put them in words. With so many public holidays and leave, I have more than enough time to put something down in writing, but my brain refused to work. I'm just plain lazy! Here's just a few pics that sums up the events in the past 1 week or so...

My birthday dinner with a few dear friends Pat, CK, Fable, LS and Eve at Moussandra.
Thanks for becoming such a meaningful part of my life!

An old lady at the Zoo in my hometown.

Dad and I took almost an hour to make these spherical "Eee".

The "Eee" offering to my paternal and maternal grandmoms and granddads.

And as the year end approaches, God has refused to let me remain "unsick". Although I don't have a flu or fever, I am feeling just as sick as ever as I've got various disorders from head to toe:
(1) My right ear is blocked, with that ringing feeling, and I am a little bit off-balance. And my stiff neck is probably related to my blocked ear as well.
(2) I bit myself and my cheeks are sore now. Eating is very painful.
(3) I've got haemorrhoids from over Stepping and over Jamming two weeks ago.
Arrgh!!!

Smoke Gets In My Eyes

How could clubbing be such an ordeal?

Just a few years ago, I used to go clubbing like twice or thrice a month, dance like crazy and sleeping at 4am was not a problem.

Last night, I almost slept. I was yawning away, feeling extremely tired. The smoke irritates my eyes and the music is merely noise to me. It was extremely difficult and painful to endeavour to keep awake. I wished that I was home sleeping instead. Age is catching up with me.

Will this be my last club entry stamp on my arm?

The College Boy

The warmth of his youthful smile beckoned me. He led me up to the little room up the spiral staircase, as if I was a fragile little child that needed to be handled with extra care. "Careful, he might break", I could almost hear him say....

Spice Up Your Life With X

Yesterday, I spent a tiring 8 hours in Bukit Bintang area and what did I buy?

Kylie's new tenth album, aptly named X, and yes, the Spice Girls' Greatest Hits album. I'm a BIG fan of Kylie (and and in some ways the Spice Girls too), so that's why I always buy ORIginal discs when it comes to artistes that I appreciate, and especially those albums that I know I will never get bored listening to. Furthermore, both are sold at RM38 each, and both comes with DVDs. Kylie's album comes with a bonus DVD of an interview, photo gallery (with White Diamond music in the background), and the MTV for 2 Hearts. The Spice Girl's DVD contains ALL the girls' MTVs.

I also bought three books for the price of two. I absolutely loved the movie version of Notes On a Scandal so I wanted to read it again. The other two sounds interesting, Man Walks Into A Room and Can't Wait to Get to Heaven.

I think I'll do a review of the books after I read it, if I'm not too lazy. But for now, here's my review of Kylie's album, X.
I have heard this album three times now. It's been like 4 years since her last album Body Language was released. I didn't think too highly of Body Language. There were only a couple of great tracks: Slow and Red Blooded Woman, and perhaps Promises. As for the other tracks, I just don't get it. Body Language was pale in comparison to Fever.
I think X has a good blend of the new Kylie and a sprinkle of the old Kylie here and there. I can't quite describe the new Kylie, but the old Kylie is the bubble gum pop and very campy at times. The new Kylie here is very distinct, somewhat electronic and I think this new theme and sound bind the whole album together.
Unlike the songs in Body Language, I could connect with all the songs in this album here. I got a bit of deja vu here and there as a few songs sounded typical of a few artistes. For example, Speakerphone sounded like a recent Madonna record with all the vocoder, and the way she sang All I See sounded so Janet Jackson. In some instances, you'd think of Gwen Stefani in Heart Beat Rock and Nu-Di-Ty.
The One is just sooo campy... so Kylie in I Believe In You, but better. Perhaps, a little too campy for this era. Haha! Wow started off almost sounding like Holiday (Madonna) and A Public Affair (Jessica Simpson), and it has that familiar background beat throughout the song. But I think Kylie successfully made the song her own with her signature style. But in certain parts, it reminds me of that Lene (?) girl in Aqua singing Doctor Jones.
There's this track, Rippin Up the Disco isn't actually on the CD but you can download after following a link when you pop it into your PC.
My immediate favourites? 2 Hearts, In My Arms, The One, Heart Beat Rock, No More Rain, All I See and Wow. The rest will surely grow on me as I listened to it more. No bad/lame tracks!!! This album is comparable to Impossible Princess in terms of listenability (is there such a word?) and creativity. Thumbs up for Kylie! Love it! Love it! Love it! I am so happy! :-)

BodyStep, BodyJam and CardioDance

After horrifying weeks of doing Canned Heat, Buttons, Boom Boom, Hips Don't Lie and GoodLuck repeatedly, I finally waved them goodbye.... at least for another 3 weeks. Yes, the new release is here!

Today, there was a sneak preview class for BodyStep and BodyJam at Manulife. I just don't know why they have to call it 'sneak preview' instead of a launch. After all, they did the full new releases. Anyways, after more than a week of lack of gym, I headed to the gym just before the BodyStep sneak preview. I rarely go for step classes. Was afraid of the board after I fell once. But Jam will only come on in another hour, so I gatal and decided to join in the step class. It was more interesting than I remembered, perhaps the new release contain quite a number of tunes from the 70s and 80s. It was fun! I have never stayed on in a BodyStep class in its entirety, but today, I was full of energy and stay till the end. I think I'm gonna start picking up on step classes.

After one tiring hour of step, I stayed on for the new BodyJam 43 release. It wasn't as drama as the previous few releases. The first block supposingly had a disco feel and the second was supposed be 'house'. Whatever, but I didn't really think the first block was disco at all. Yes, it had a bit of 70s and 80s tune to it, but definitely not disco. Most of the moves were quite new and somewhat difficult to execute on first try. Tonite, sure suffer one, after back-to-back step and jam classes.

Yesterday, we had a very enjoyable CardioDance session. We paired up boys and girls, and it wasn't until when Jimmy put on the music near the end that I realized that we're gonna do Grease-type of dance! So fun! But we didn't have enough time to familiarize ourselves with the music, so a bit of havoc when we had to dance it out twice as fast as when we practised it. Yes, definitely more Cardiodance classes for me!

Campy Cameron

With my week-long flu refusing to go away, I was forced to take a medical leave for the second time that week. My head was spinning, my throat got re-infected again, and my fever had returned, threatening to make me pull out of the Cameron trip. Sindy had said that perhaps I would heal better up there, but I was worried it I would more likely to suffer than to heal. So I drank several cups of hot Hor Yan Hor tea that evening before our departure. Supposingly, it would cool down a 'heaty' body. Miraculously, it worked, and I was all well again later that night, except that it kept me wide awake until 3 am. Yes, if you are in desperate need to get well from sore throat and flu, try Hor Yan Hor tea... guarantee to make you well instantly!

With just 3 hours of sleep, I woke up the next morning and was set for the much needed holidays. So, the four of us straight-acting macho gym boys, two of whom are sinful bloggers, set off our road trip first to Ipoh for breakfast. Then we visited Kellie's Castle for cam-whoring, before driving up the winding road to the Camerons.

The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years...

Yes, the hills were alive, until the cool pristine ambience was shattered by high pitch squeals, as the straight-acting macho gymmers transformed into the campy drama queens....

The hairpin bends on the very winding stretch of the road up the hills proved too much for the queens.

There was plenty to eat and drink throughout the trip, except for cocks, balls, nipples, cum and assholes. The drama queens abandoned their normally gruelling gym and diet plan in favour of Ipoh's famous Salted Steamed Chicken, yummicious Ipoh Dim Sum, the 3-colour drinks, Cameron's sweet honey corn and fried mushroom, more tea, and steamboat. On the way back, we had to make a mandatory stop in Ipoh again to try out the special Curry Chicken wrapped in bread.

And of course, there was plenty of time for the drama queens to hiao in the hotel room. As night fall, and no hunks were spotted at the highlands, the queens grew more and more restless and desperate. Yes, desperate they were, as they proceeded to show more and more skin, unnecessarily proclaim love and affection to one another to the extent of engaging in mock sexual acts. Unthinkable!

The drama queens not only hiao in the privacy of their hotel room, they also shamelessly hiao in public! Shameless!!!

Definitely, this is a trip to remember and cherish, as the bond between the drama queens grew stronger.

Yes, they even planned for their old age.... as they made a pact to grow old and retire gracefully in Cameron Highlands. With their savings, they would buy and live in a bungalow with a little garden manned by a few hunky workers.

As the drama queens made their descent, they also pledged to return very soon to Cameron. There is a very good reason to come back and enjoy the stress-free environment (except for the horrendous traffic jam).

And of course, that one good reason is this:

Dosa Seorang Diva Yang Terlampau Obsesif

Malam tadi, Diva hampir pengsan di kelas. Diva sebenarnya masih belum pulih sepenuhnya.

Double Punishment!

OMFG! As if making me sick wasn't enough punishment, God has also ensured that I missed every single opportunity of doing my favourite BodyJam JazzRock block. Given that the JazzRock block was rarely taught by the instructors, I had dearly missed doing it so much. Reportedly, Evil StepSister did the JazzRock block once again today, and I missed it because I was sick! I swear, if I had the energy, if I had known, I would have climbed out of bed, drive all the way to the gym and attend the class.

God has punished me dearly.... Boo Hoo.....

Punishment perhaps?

My weekend was ruined! This was probably the eleventh time I fall sick in the past 12 months. So basically, I fall sick on a monthly basis, as if I'm having my regular menstruation. It's the usual kind of stuff... sore throat, runny nose, occasional fever, cough that will stay with me for two weeks. I would get well for the next 3 to 4 weeks before I fall sick again. I have even exceeded the limit of my medical claims benefit provided by my company!

This time, I got a bit of sore throat, which eventually developed into fever and bodyache. A bit of sneezing and coughing. But I was just too weak to get out of the house. So I spent most of my time in bed, and I was just so so so furious and upset with myself for falling sick again.

And I can't believe that Evil Stepsister, who had once proclaimed that she will never do the JazzRock block, did it in class when I was away sick!

What sins have I committed to deserve this?!

********************************************

Meanwhile, I continue to get incessant phone calls and smses from this obsessive guy whom I met a couple of months ago. It's been many weeks since I answered his calls. And I have never returned any of his smses which proclaimed love and friendship. What love and friendship? I hardly know you! And I don't want to know more about you! Just leave me alone! Stop obsessing!

Any right-minded person would have gotten the message that it's time to give up when your calls and smses remained unanswered after a few times. But no, he chose to be super-duper persistent and continues to call and sms me. It is damn irritating. Too bad my phone does not have "block caller" function.

Now, what sins have I committed to deserve this?!

The Dance Diva Conquers

After much persuasion from fellow sisters, procrastination and contemplation, the dance diva finally upgraded to passport membership!

Because I dah tak boleh tahan, I stopped by the home gym early this morning to do the necessary paperwork and payment for the upgrade, thereby allowing me to commence conquering the dancehalls of the other gym outlets. Hehe.... upon signing up, I sms-ed the sisters to invite them to come witness this historic event later in the evening at the Curve and experience together the dazzling display of style, flamboyance, drama and hiao-ness. Eva also upgraded today.

I was there early today, and had time to butch up quite a bit with the weights exercises. The machines and free weights were kinda lacking in terms of numbers compared to my home gym, plus there were a bunch of people hogging the free weights area. Haiye!

The studio was rather large and people were a lot more kiasu than my home gym. Even before the members from the previous class left the studio, people were already rushing in. So, the diva also has to even more kiasu and jom the front spot. I have never seen so many members attending Jam in my life. Must be more than 60 people. The max in my home gym was probably 30. But the shortcoming of this studio here was that there was no mirror at the front. The diva tak boleh syok sendiri! The mirror at the side was also limited. The studio also looked rather dim as there was not enough mirror, lights and glass walls. And don't get me started with the two horrible pillars in the middle of the studio.

Anyway, generally I had fun with a larger crowd, the feel of a different instructor, and of course, a different track selection.

So now, I'll be analysing the schedule of the classes of the other outlets to see which ones to conquer next!!!

Back to Blogging, Jamming and Complaining

Phuh~ It's been so bloody long since I posted anything. Been so busy the past month, I hardly had time or desire to blog. In fact, although busy with work and work-related stuff, I actually had quite a few things to blog about, for example, my juicy trip to Singapore a week or so ago, recent book purchases.... ermm.... that's about the only things I can remember now ah... getting old and forgetful liao. And also, lazy liao.... so I'm just gonna postpone my Singapore trip blog to this weekend, hopefully.

I've also missed gym a lot, I mean, A LOT... it's Oct 31 liao.... and I've only been to the gym like 7 times! On average leh, I used to go gym at least 20 times/month. Luckily, didn't upgrade to passport this month! Haiye, should have been more kiasu to use the hot showers longer la, use the toilet to pangsai la, should have spent more time in the steam room la, and should have used the hairdryer (me love the hairdryer!) longer too .... just long enough before my hair gets burnt! But no, even the gym sessions were hurried. I was either too tired to hang around, or have to go back home to me parents, who also demand my undivided attention.

I've only done some light weights yesterday, and yes, it got very hard indeed after almost 1 month hiatus. Muscles got flabby liao, and I'm losing the tone quite a bit. And I felt malas to lift anything more than 20 kg. Haiye! Anyway, of the 7 times to the gym, I only went to BodyJam for 5 times! Other jammer buddies noticed my absence, and have been asking about my disappearance. Haiyu, so terharu!! But I also got spies one.... have been getting updates from the gang on what tracks they were doing.

But frankly, I think it was quite timely that I've been missing the Jam classes. I've gotten quite sick of the few tracks that they were playing. Perhaps I've had an overdose of Jam liao, and perhaps, the instructors were all choosing the same few easy tracks to do. I know it is hard work to be an instructor, but just exactly how many times can you listen to and do "Canned Heat", "Buttons", "Hips Don't Lie", "Boom Boom", "Escapade", "R & B Junkie", "Ran Kan Kan", "Bongo", "Adrenalina", "California Dreaming", "Scandalous", "Self Control" block, and "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" without getting sick of it? Yes, i don't feel like dancing anymore if week in, week out, despite different instructors, it's the same few songs. There are over 120 songs from the past 2 years of releases to choose from (not counting the older releases), but it's always the same few ones selected. But really, most of the usually repeated tracks are kinda unchallenging to do after a few times, and they hardly give you a good workout. But why is it the instructor's favourite (and perhaps to most people?)? My guess is that these are easy to instruct and easy to follow.

My question now is, will upgrading to passport and attending the other Jam classes at the other outlets be worth it? Must start to do detailed survey of what the instructors of the other classes are doing before I upgrade. Imagine the horror of paying extra and travelling all the way to the other clubs to do "Canned Heat", "Buttons", "Boom Boom" and "Ran Kan Kan". ~Phuh~

Forgive me God, for I have sinned... for I have bitched about my favourite gym class and instructors.

Double Combo Control Freaks

Dear God, please forgive me for I have bitched about my bosses.

Today, for almost the entire day, my colleagues and I bitched and bitched and bitched about our two immediate lady bosses. Yup, we could not take it any more. It was the only thing we could do to get it off our chest.

Well, I don't know why, but lady bosses really have authority issues. They just have to show that they are in a powerful position and that you are supposed to acknowledge this fact everyday. No matter how small a decision is to be made, you have to 'check' with them first. Before you send out an e-mail, you must show them first. (Sometimes I wonder if they get offended if I go to the toilet without asking them for permission first: Boss, can I go to the toilet now? I really have to shee shee...). Everything they must know and you have to get their approval because they are the office manager or project manager. Yes, every now and then, they remind you who they are, just to make sure that you know your rightful place, which is below them. Under normal circumstances, when you do things without having to be told to do it, most bosses would praise you that you have shown initiative and/or able to work independently and/or able to handle difficult situations on your own. It didn't matter how you do it (of course within reasonable limits), as long as the work gets done or the problem gets solved. But when it comes to these two bosses, it matters very much to them that no matter how you do it, no matter how insignificant the impact will be, you must absolutely inform them and check with them. Otherwise, they will accuse you that you didn't ask their permission. Why didn't you check with them first?

I really don't understand what goes on in their head. Did they really feel so insecure and threatened that they have to control everything you do? As long as you check with them or get their approval on everything that you do, then they'll be happy. As long as you listen to what they tell you to do, then they won't find issues with you. If you didn't do it their way, then you've done it the wrong way. But during performance appraisal, they will turn back and accuse you of being unable to make decisions. They will judge you that you lack initiative, that you lack ability to handle situations on your own. Either way, you lose, because they are the bosses and what they say or do are always right.

I have worked with two other female bosses in the past, and they're all also the same. But for now, in my current office, it's double combo micromanagers. In a small office of only 6 people, with the top two people being female control freaks (that's already 33% of the office population), how do you deal with this? How do you spend 40 hours (or more) a week having to face all this nonsensical micromanagement? Phuh!

Where Do I Go From Here?

I opened my eyes and there you were; your face just an inch away from mine. I extricated myself from your warm embrace, from your strong arms. I sat up and watched you sleep like a baby, my baby. And I asked myself: Where do I go from here?

Passion

The word I encountered frequently in the past few weeks. Why? In life we must have passion in what we do. Otherwise, what we do will be meaningless. Without passion, there can be no action. Productivity will be low, and there will be no innovation.

I know of people who are so passionate about their work. There are those who gets paid poorly, or have to work under constant pressure, or have to work in an non-conducive environments, but have so much passion in what they do that they didn't mind slogging it out. There are others who gets paid well, but because of passion, they didn't mind travelling country to country week after week, or check their emails at unearthly hours at night, or work for long hours and giving up on their family time/social time.

It is perhaps okay to have no passion in what you do, but gets paid well for it. But what if you don't really have the passion and don't get paid well either?

Is passion something that we can inculcate? Or is it something that you either have it or don't?

What do you do if you think you do not have the passion in the job/occupation that you do? What do you do if you do not know of any job/occupation that you may be passionate about?

What if it is not so much the lack of passion in the nature or type of the job that you do, but more of the lack of passion in any kind of job?

Passion... yes, passion...

Take the Chance

I am most impressed with people who seize every opportunity they have to get what they want. At a local joint, a guy came up to me to introduce himself and asked if he could have my telephone number as he was interested to be "friends". I blushed instantly. I haven't experienced any of such directness before. I've only seen it in western movies and from stories related by my more outgoing friends. For example, Genie made small talk with someone from the gym and got his number. And Kelly got Tricia/Lisa's number in less than 2 hours of karaoke.

I think I should learn to be more thick skin too. I should learn to walk up to a guy I am interested in, cook up some stories to talk about and/or just ask for his number. A friend once described me as a person who wants to be romanced by another person (ie. i am more of a pursuee than a pursuer).

But I'm shy, shy, shy.... and afraid of the awkwardness.... perhaps also afraid of rejection.

Spam Sms

Anonymous Sms message: Hey... Are you PLU?

What the f*#@? How did this person get my number? Someone playing prank?

Chemical Brothers

Well, there are quite a number of nice songs that you can dance to at BodyJam. For a mak diva like moi, it is expected that disco tunes are mak diva's favourites. But I've also noticed that there's a certain kind of music that catches my attention too, to my surprise. When I listen to the music I get an overwhelming feeling.... the dazy beat.... i don't really know how to describe la. When I did a search on the internet and listened to it, I realized they're from the same artist: The Chemical Brothers. Apparently, the genre is big beat electronic dance. Wow! Very cheem! And all the time I was just only enjoying bubble gum pop dance ala Kylie! There's more to discover!

Click on my Imeem player and see if you like these songs from The Chemical Brothers. Comments please!

I'm so excited about this! WIll definitely do more search and sampling of this kind of music. Apparently Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy under this category too!

WPJ 3865

I have been much too lazy to post anything the past couple of weeks even though I had quite a bit of random thoughts and sinful acts to share on this blog. But my parents were around, so I had to spend quite a bit of time with them, like taking them out on weekends. Yes, I've been quite good lately.

But something happened as I was driving back home just now that spurred me to post this blog entry for the month. I was bullied on the road. Yep! I was on a two-lane road with a speed limit of 70km/hr, but I was already driving at a 80km/hr on the rightmost lane trying to overtake several cars which are on the left lane. Then along came the impatient WPJ 3865 out of nowhere behind me honking and switching on his headlamps to shoo me away from his path. Apparently, he is the King of the roads and nothing else mattered except that everyone must absolutely get out of his way. He needs to be the first: the fastest to reach his destination, and at that speed he was coming from behind me, I would think that his destination is probably death.

Yes, in that split second, I would have simply just moved to the left lane where all the unimportant people drive to give way to the King. But I couldn't. There were other cars, three to be exact, on the left lane. They were all driving just slightly slower than I did probably 60 km/hr, and I couldn't just squeeze into the left lane at that high speed. It would be dangerous. So it would take me at least another couple of hundred meters to overtake the frontmost car and safely manoeuver into the left lane. But of course, as a law-abiding driver, I shouldn't accelerate way above 80 km/hr at a 70km/hr zone just to accommodate the King. So I stayed on course at a constant speed of 80km/hr. I knew that within a couple of hundred meters, I would have gone past the frontmost car on the left lane. Simple mechanics!

But the King chose drive dangerously close to me from behind in his attempt to shoo me away. The moment I drove past the frontmost car on the left, the King squeezed in between and overtook me from the left. I was still on the right lane as the King is on the left now. I thought that was the end of it, but the King chose to punish me for not getting out of his way. Sudddenly, reaching his destination at bullet speed was no longer important. He overtook me, proceeded to drive in front of me and decelerated to 30 km/hr. I had to slam my brakes to avoid hitting him. He continued to drive at irregular speeds in front of me. When I wanted to change lanes, he refused to let me. There were already other cars and motorcycles closing in on us from behind. I was very alert and cautious of his next moves and I maintained a very slow speed just in case. I guess this is what they call defensive driving. But it was getting dangerous for the other drivers from behind as they probably had no idea that the King was driving dangerously to punish me. They could get involved in an accident if they weren't careful.

I was powerless against the King and the situation. I could have met with an accident. I could have died.

Dear God, I have sinned once again.... for having vengeful thoughts about WPJ 3865.... for secretly wishing that WPJ 3865 be duly punished for bullying me and putting my life in danger.... for cursing the worst about WPJ 3865. Dear God, forgive me....

The Past, The Present and The Future

Just last week I was complaining that I had probably ran out of steam blogging. I had nothing to write about then. I had blogger's block. So I ended up posting pictures and a YouTube link for a fabulous movie I watched. But yes, a week has since passed and I am back with quite a bit to bitch about. Where shall I start?

But first, NAHHH! Yes, instead of the middle finger, I've decided to put something closer to the real thing. A bit of graphic swear to kick off this blog post.

Why so rude ah? Why so lebih-lebih ah? Phuh! It has been a busy week for me. Traveling all over the place. Last Thursday and Friday was in Penang. No sex. Weekend was like nyonya doing housechores. No sex. Then Monday flew to JB for day trip. Tiring. And then Tuesday flew to Jakarta and only got back today. Tired and still no sex. Wah! Tired but very horny you know? And now, mom and dad are in town for a month or so. Whenever, they're in town, they usually stay with me during the weekend. Again, no sex. Cannot bring hot guys back home liao.... for the next four weekends. How? How? (Not that I always bring hot guys home la, in fact I can't quite remember when, or did I? But whatever it is, the thought, the possibility of it has been dashed....).

************************************
The Past and The Future
As I collect my hand-carry bag from the security scanning machine at the Gate leading to the aircraft, I turned behind and saw a familiar face. A tall, fairly well built guy with quite a handsome face. Yes, I remembered him clearly. He caught me looking at him. I smiled and looked straight into his eyes. I winked. He was caught offguard for a moment. Puzzled that he was being cruised so forcefully and unashamedly. Then, he remembered who I was.
It has been such a long time since I've seen him or contacted him. Must have been like 4 years. We have a common friend (whom I have also lost touch) back then, and we were introduced by that common friend. At that time, I was still a virgin, and so was he. Nope, sorry, wrongly stated .... hehe... I am still a virgin now. So two virgins how? Ok ok.... I digressed a bit. At that time, we were relatively new to the plu scene. According to him, I was his second plu friend wor. Wah! I feel so terharu! Back then, we met up quite a bit for a short while, but for some reason, there wasn't really anything going on. Eventually, the friendship just died.
The aircraft was eerily empty for an international flight. I think only about 40 passengers, I counted. As we were lining up to get on board, I asked him where is he seated, so that I can come sit next to him and chat. 15D. I looked at my boarding pass: 15C. Wow! What a coincidence! How impeccable! After 4 years of non-contact, and of the 200 seats in the aircraft, we were assigned seats next to each other, only to be separated by the aisle! We laughed at it, and we spent the next two hours talking and catching up.
When we found out that we're going to be living in the same neighbourhood (he's shifting from PJ to a place just 5 minutes away from my place) by next month, we got even more excited about it. We're practically neighbours. Yes, there'll be another kaki to hang out with soon in the area.
********************************************
Banten, Indonesia
This time, my trip to Banten was relatively short. Thank goodness! I usually had a driver to take me to the work site, but this time I had two. One of them act like a bodyguard la. Wah! Everywhere I go, he follow me you know?! I never felt so safe before. He even told me he will take good care of me and assured me not to be scared.

So, on the second day, I treated them with food when they break fast at around 6pm.

Clockwise from bottom right: Sayur Asin Char Tahu, Ikan Bakar Gurame
Sayur Asam (in small bowl), rice, and Ayam Kalasan

On the way back to the airport, we passed by the poorer areas of Kota Tangerang. There were people washing their clothes by the drain. The water is so murky and filthy, but yet, these poor people use it to wash their clothes. Yes, shocking, but painfully true. We should be thankful that we didn't have to live under such deplorable conditions, with limited access to clean water.

I came back today and went for BodyJam. But my usual Jam kaki was nowhere to be found. With their passport, they have migrated to the other branches, in search of instructors with good techniques and cues, as well as of course, in search of lengchai la. So, I bodyjammed today without them. Hmmp!!! Sindy has agreed to subsidize my passport upgrade, until now also keep quiet only. Cheh! I wonder what the future holds for my Jam kaki....

Younger and younger

Many people had told me that I don't quite look my age. But last night was the ultimate! As Fable got through the main entrance, I was stopped and asked to produce my IC as the bouncer insisted to look at the date of birth. At this ancient age, I still looked like an underaged school kid??? Even Fable got through! Haha!

Well, I take it as a compliment. I was a YOUNG beautiful sexy diva that night!

The Divas Don't Live Here Anymore

I can't quite remember how I got to know about it, but it was about 8 years back when I first made my way to CM trying to locate the happening club for the gay community in KL. It was daytime, and I was walking around the area trying to look see look see la. My heart was racing as I climbed the staircase to the first floor. It wasn't open, of course, but it had a heavily tinted glass door. I was young and very timid then, and hadn't quite come out yet. It had a very sinful look. Too much for me to bear.

Fast forward two years later, in 2001, when I started to blossom in full glory, like all if not most gay sinners, I just had to go and experience gay clubbing. I remembered quite vividly when I was touched by the whole experience. I went there with my two ex-colleagues. I even bumped into the Director of my company then (yes, surprise!).

It was the time when Kylie was the Queen of all Discos, especially the campy ones. The club was packed with all sorts of sinners partying away. Quite a number of sinners were taking a breather outside to get away from the heat, sweat, smoke, booze and loud thumping music. When the familiar addictive thumping base of Can't Get You Out of My Head started with that oh-so-catchy la la la, everyone outside, including moi suddenly jumped up (as if we're in a high jump competition), screamed Kylie!! (as if we've been possessed) and rushed (as if we've been chased by a ferocious dog) campily inside to join the rest of a worked up crowd. Now THAT is the power of Kylie.

The club became a regular haunt for me and my other dancing/clubbing partner, Fable, and we went there like almost every 1 or 2 weeks. There were times when we went there for 3 - 4 consecutive weeks! Other regular campy crowd favoruites at that time was Jenny From the Block (JLo), Stronger (Britney), Get This Party Started (Pink), In Your Eyes (Kylie), Love At First Sight (Kylie).... In no time, Fable and I progressed to become the Liquid Divas. We almost always dance on the podium. We attended quite a few Liquid trademark functions, such as the Beach Party and Back To School. But I didn't get to go to the Foam Party. I was out of country but I think Fable did. I'm so jealous!

Then the club expanded to include The Disco on the upper floor. Which meant more glorious dancing nites, bigger space and larger podium. Yes, more space for divas like us! But in spite of that, the crowd seemed to grow bigger too. For example, on the May Day event, it was so packed, smoky, hot and with so many shirtless sweaty muscle-bodied guys, I had difficulty breathing! Fable and I also had a new non-dancing partner, Alex, who refused to dance because he claimed he's too stiff (kononnya he's straight acting la....straight guys and straight acting guys don't dance, apparently). But in the power of Kylie changed that, and he soon became a dancing queen, to our surprise.

But I blossomed for only a short 2 years, to my disappointment. My energy level dropped, I was sleepy by 10pm and the music became unsuitable for divas like me. It probably died when the Kylie mania withered away too. Our frequency to the club (and the other new club with the same acronym) dropped quite drastically. Too old for this kind of stuff liao! Too old for the smoke, the crowd, the loud music, the pretentiousness.

When we heard it was closing/shifting, we thought that we had to go to reminisce the old times. Ant and Kit came along too, just like before. Alex joined us later. But there was something missing in the atmosphere. The divas don't live here anymore.

Where My Love Is

You should never have...
Kissed me, hugged me.
Caressed my face.

I should never have...
Kissed you, hugged you.
Caressed your face.

I don't do that.
For I've always known.
To tell apart.
What is love.
And what is not.

But I did.
'Cos you did.

In that moment.
I was lost in your touch.
Still, I should have known better.
What is love.
And what is not.
And soon I realized.
It wasn't.
For you.
At least.

But now I know.
What I didn't know before:
What my love is.
How my love is.
Where my love is.

What if....

I was standing there on the first floor of Bangsar SC, staring into nothingness, waiting for PC who was late to arrive. I was tired from Jam and from work. I startled a bit when this guy came over and asked what the time was in chinese. He was a small guy, probably in the early twenties, but could be younger. Sensing that I had difficulty understanding mandarin, he then asked in English. "It's almost nine," I answered as I showed my watch to him.

"Thank you."

When I looked up, he winked at me and motioned me to follow him. He walked towards the passageway that leads to the toilets. I was shocked. Dumbfounded.

He then whistled for me to come along. But I was still in a state of shock. What? Me? You want me?

He went past the emergency door that leads to the emergency staircase and toilets, so I couldn't see him anymore. He was waiting for me. I ignored him and looked out for PC who still hasn't arrived yet. But in my mind, I began to have naughty thoughts. What if I follow him? What if I just go see how daring he is? After all, I don't get this sort of 'excitement' all the time. Just go see see look look la. I have heard of those cruisy stories from friends. I have read about it on erotic stories sites. After all this time in my life, nobody wants me... now got people want to play play with me wor.... after all, I am a HOT dude! What if I go for a quickie? What if.... what if....

He was back to where I was standing, rather persistent, not giving up yet, and asked, "Are you waiting for someone?"

"Yes, waiting for a friend," I replied.
"What time is he coming?"
"She should be here soon."

Sensing that I was disinterested, he politely said, "Oh, ok then. I have to go now. Bye." And he walked off.

I stood there, still waiting for PC. What if....

What A Feeling - Body Jam Fever

Recently, after every BodyJam session, we would spend like at least 2 hours discussing it! Is there really that much to talk about? Certainly..... about which release is nice la, about which moves are hiao or drama la, about which routine we missed doing la, about about which instructor is good, bad and ugly la, about which instructor is hot la, about historical classes la etc etc.

So adddicted am I that I actually went hunting for YouTube clips. So I landed with this one. I dunno who shot this clip but the music was from BodyJam 35, but with moves from BodyJam 35 (What A Feeling), BodyJam 37 (Jazz/rock) and BodyJam 39 (Dance For Life). How peculiar!

You Decide, Anything, Whatever: My Version

Well, most of us had probably read about "You Decide, Anything, Whatever: Three Answers From Women". But for me leh, lagi teruk, especially when I go out to makan with my girlfriend PC. We're both really indecisive (but I must admit that I am also very picky when it comes to food). We could loiter around for half and hour and still couldn't decide on what to eat!!! Very stressful one! This is how a typical conversation goes:

Me: Where to go for dinner?
PC: Dunno la. Where hah?
Me: Hmmm....

(5 minutes later)
PC: So how?
Me: Dunno la. No place to eat la. Sien already.... Erm....
PC: Nothing interesting to eat around this area one hor....

(5 minutes later)
Me: How leh? Where? Where?
PC: Let's go Hartamas la.
Me: But tonite saturday, parking very difficult leh.
PC: Oh ya hor. Then u suggest la.
Me: Dunno la

(and so on .... when the location has finally been decided....)
PC: What to eat?
Me: Anything
PC: Want to try Japanese?
Me: Dun feel like Japanese la. Expensive summore.
PC: Oh... ok.. Then?
Me: Hm.... anything but Japanese or vegetarian la....

(5 minutes later)
PC: where ah? Do you want to try that new Korean BBQ place. Not bad.
Me: Eee.... smoky la. DUn want.
PC: Then you suggest la. Me: Whatever la.

(5 minutes later)
PC: Errr....
Me: What about vietnamese noodles?
PC: Oh I just ate noodles yesterday. Maybe not. Want to try thai food then?
Me: Hmm.... a bit spicy la. I just got a bit better from my stomach problems la. U know la, I always got tummy problem one. Better not la
PC: Then what you want to eat???
Me: erm...

(5 minutes later)
PC: What about that one over there? Oh, but long queue.... hafta wait so long...
Me: ya lor.... hungry already leh.... where? where? Cin cai la

(5 minutes later)
Me: How? I heard that one quite good. But why nobody one ah?
PC: Dunno. Sure good or not?
Me: Ya lor, better not, scary dunno good or not. Afterwards not fresh.
PC: So how?
Me: You decide la....
PC: I decide??? You suggest la. Quick! Quick! So hungry liao.
Me: Hah??

(and so on.....)

Oh! That cool masculine energy never experienced before. Orgasmic!

Up in the Attic

A cool comfy laidback ambience
Guys and gals sipping cocktails
All smartly dressed, looking their best
A pretty little lady with big voice was singing
Songs from the past, music of today

Everybody seems to know everybody
Geri as usual thoughtful and friendly

Genie waved around here and there
To tell everyone that he was there

Luck was certainly on Sindy's side
As the guy he eyed
Came over and sat by his side

Lisa was more 'in' than she claimed
From the manager to tiger
To the boy whom she met on the train

I sipped my long island tea
Just being me
Yawning away like a sleeping beauty
The bed was where I want to be

50 years on

Yesterday the country celebrated it's 50th anniversary of independence from British rule. But I came across a letter to the editor under the Man in the Street column in The Straits Times, August 28, 1957:

If a constitution were lopsided so that one section of the population were unfairly benefitted, the section that received the benefit would certainly declare that the constitution was best and that all the other sections should "shut up and accept" it.

Now 50 years on, despite the apparent superficial harmonious relationship of the peoples of this country, there lies a certain dormant divisive force underneath. Everybody talked about it behind closed doors. A few politicians occasionally risk bringing the subject up in parliament only to be told to "shut up and accept it".

We talked and read about it in the papers in 1957. Now, 50 years on, we can't talk and read about it in the papers. 50 years on, has anything changed? Have we really moved forward and matured? Was there really a reason to celebrate?

Self House Arrest

I noticed that I'm becoming a lot lazier and more and more introverted as I grow older. Five years back, I used to go out jalan-jalan at shopping malls on weekends without fail. Back then, I would willingly drive cross-city whether it is to meet up with friends or just go jalan-jalan. Every Saturday night, I will sure have the itch to go clubbing.

Nowadays, I hardly get out of the house. I'm bored of shopping complexes. I have nothing to buy and I dread the crowd. I hate trying to find a parking space for my car. And I can't remember when I last watch a movie. I can't remember the last time I went clubbing. Clubbing seems such a drag nowadays since those glorious Kylie days in Liquid. I hate the Saturday nite traffic in town, and I hate the smoke in the clubs. I hate the superficial patrons. Now, I fear that I'm losing interest in BodyJam.

This weekend, I am rather free, but I just feel somewhat lazy to get out and do something. I'd rather stay home and do nothing (except blogging about it!). I am even too lazy to want to go out and eat. I can't just stay at home all the time! I need to find a new passion in my life. But what?
